pbr985 wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2020 11:59 am I'm shocked reading these reviews. When this thing came out everyone on gearslutz was reaving about it that it sounds more analog than anything ITB. You can check the topic some people were saying they dropped their Eventide H3000 as this is the only plugin that can replace it ITB sound quality wise... Strange hey.
Are you SURE people called it "analogue"?? I remember distinctly people calling it a replacement for the H3000, as you said, which is 100% digital and not even remotely trying to be analogue. The hardware is as digital and sterile as it gets. Doesn't make the H3000 bad at all, on the contrary. It's exactly what I described above. Thin, unassuming and just "fits the mix".
Not that this matters in the slightest in the grand scheme of things, but I'm pretty sure there is a significant amount of supporting analog circuitry in the h3k - for example CEM filtering before the outs. I'd say the converters are probably a big part of the sound as well. It definitely has a different character to the later eventides (imho not better or worse just different)
Well yes, of course. You are correct, the AD/DA is indeed a big part of the sound of this era of digital processing. But it is not "analogue fat sound" that we associate with "phat".. The H3000 in my opinion is pretty damn "thin" and sterile sounding, but that's what makes it fit the mix so well. :)

But you are correct. The Eventide H3000 plugin doesn't sound at it's core like the hardware box. There is indeed a layer of emulation missing. Hope they revisit at some point.

Not at all. It all has to do about supporting a shitty company with your money, even $0.01...
I think you're being unfair with iZotope. I don't consider them "a shitty company"...
Agreed. iZotope is a respectable company with decent to very good products.

In this case, I shell out $9 for a plugin which has been on the market for quite a while now, which seems to run stable, and which was developed by a developer who I know for making quality plugins. All fair and square for me.
Right on, chk. Good post.

That doesn't sound right to me. I demand a company to be nice to me and also give me cheap plugins that also mix a song for me.

Just tried the demo. If you ask me this plugin was never worth the original selling price. The GUI is rough, looks like an early programmer prototype design not meant for public release.

I remember people raving about it when it first came out...

Most plugins that sell for hundreds of dollars get rave reviews :D. But I think the underlying algorithms are not bad, my issue is the way the plugin is implemented I think there are both usability and design issues.
