I see in the manual it says "EGOIST works with .wav, .aiff, .mp3 files" but I was hoping leaving REX files off that list was just a mistake or that the update in 1.5 added it. If anyone that uses it can confirm, it will save me the time of demoing it.

Not sure, but I don’t think so.
