Dear community,

first of all, I would like to thank the developers of MSoundfactory for their great job of creating a tremendous Synth which can do pretty much everything. However, I would like to ask whether it is possible to also process external audio input - i.e., to have some audio from the DAW, e.g. from another synth, routed as an input source to the MSF.

This would be a kind of an obvious thing for any such modular synth to me, but I could not find any options with regard to that.

Thanks in advance

Hey there! MSF has no such function as it would impede/compete with it's bigger brother, MXXX

https://www.meldaproduction.com/MXXX

MSF is intended as an all in one synthesis/workstation instrument, not as an all in one effects unit. That's what MXXX is for. I own both software, and use them on a daily basis. MXXX is expensive, but it allows you to use the whole Melda suite in one convenient and modular area.

It's sad when management prevents the engineers from delivering the best possible product for monetary reasons. Even if they're the same person in this case :D

It's perfectly understandable, though.

Actually it can be done with MXXX, as MSF can be loaded inside it.

In my view all the FX modules were bundled into MSF as Vojtech had all the framework and modules to hand and it was relatively straight-forward to do. He could just as easily have left them out of MSF and said go get MXXX or the individual plug-ins.

So he has done all the MSF users a big favour.

Preisely what I've always thought, too, and have certainly enjoyed! But here we have a strange thing: A quote from Vojtech in reply to an MSF user who is having trouble using MXXX inside MSF, because, as he says here (viewtopic.php?f=138&t=544284):
What my question is, when loading MXXX into MSF, I am quite unable to use it because it says I don't have licenses for any of the plugins. While this is very true, I was under the impression that I did not need the licenses because I'm bound to affecting the generators from within MSF.
A bit later in that very recent thread, he quotes Vojtech thus:

"Yeah, it is happening, because MXXX is an FX plugin and if you want to use it you need to obviously own it.
Please, check its website for more information.

In case you would like to try it and test it, use the 3 months free subscription offer mentioned in the previous email (the deal ends in two days, so you should be hurry)."

WTH!? Could it be that there's now a version of MSF that DOESN'T include MXXX, in full, whether you've also bought that or not!?!?

It was actually someone named Luke Bartos who replied to my email, not Vojtech
