I sold Kaleidoscope some time ago.
My musical results with it were disappointing.
But that was for sure my inability to master this thing.
Therefore: no looking back, no reading of interviews.
Now to the important things of life:
We'll have Australian red wine with the lamb tonight.

Yes, have a nice easter, most important. I also think about to even sell all stuff i can since bad times are coming and maybe its just time to start at zero and i do not need all this stuff anymore.Calenberger wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2020 10:03 am I sold Kaleidoscope some time ago.

It will... we have not forgotten KS.Cinebient wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2020 9:30 am i wonder if this really will get further developed and will blow my mind...
seems a nice time for such things in fact. If you can't go outside to explore the real universe, at least you can stay in and create your own... working on it.

Great to hear. Maybe still THE most unique FX i own. Sometimes i hate it (because its often hard to tame or create "musical" output for me) but mostly i love it.
I also still explore things about it after some years (i own it since the very beginning).
I just wish there would be more third party content like from Simon Stockhausen (a big thanks to him here sine he really let me rethink it once i was close to resell it).
Here my favorite synth meets one of my favorite FX. First dry, then the same with a customized Kaleidoscope preset (only the wet sound and no noise input) and then again with the default B2 on top.

I do love this plugin, but I have been disappointed with the (lack of) attention given it post-release, and the repeated unhonored teasers/promises. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but it's hard to take new vague assurances that something might happen sometime very seriously. Great product, serious and committed development team. But.

I like it also for rhythmic stuff. Again "dry" and then slowly the wet sound from Kaleidoscope is increasing while the dry sound is decreasing.
Of course it can do much more complex rhythmic things.

Thank you. I even was myself once close to let it down but then i open it again after a month and blown away again what this thing can do.
It is just that it is very important which input source and preset you use, tunings, settings etc. Often i did not get a musical result at all and all sound a bit the same but once it makes click, i saw some tutorials and understand more of what it actually does it is a wormhole of sound design.
For rhythmic stuff, soundscapes and drone stuff i never saw anything better as this thing. But it is just a part of a sound and i put some FX after Kaleidoscope mostly, especially reverb which can mask the often dry/metallic sound.
I really think a v2 of this could change my world
I mean i often get lost for hours just playing with it and drift away in other worlds.
Not that i record often something but it is just fun to jam with this and experiment.
This might achieve the most complex sounds i ever heard in terms of rhythmic stuff and "playable" textures and tonal content.
Its often hard to tame it and get great results but i see it a bit like Logic´s Sculpture. Hard to tame and create musical content but when you get something it is just unique and outstanding you cannot get out of any other musical tool i heard of.
I even would prefer an update to Kaleidoscope over B2 and Aether.
That said, Kaleidoscope and B2 are a perfect match for wonderful stuff

I don't think anyone but Andrew and me (and a few Beta users back in 2014) ever produced content for KS. It is and always was a very niche instrument, probably because for many it doesn't offer instant gratification.Cinebient wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2020 10:30 amI just wish there would be more third party content like from Simon Stockhausen (a big thanks to him here sine he really let me rethink it once i was close to resell it).

Of course i am a subscriber for your Kaleidoscope presets also, my one and only subscription for a music tool but worth it for sureSampleconstruct wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2020 3:45 pmI don't think anyone but Andrew and me (and a few Beta users back in 2014) ever produced content for KS. So i hope you will go on with this for a long time.
I also think it is very niche and because of this i understand also that this might be not in front of the focus when you need commercial success as company.
Sometimes strange when you think you have finally a really game changing thing but no one knows it really or will use it. But then it is also nice to have tools which not everyone might have and every EDM producer around the corner will use it for trance gate effects (which indeed can do it better than many other gate FX).
I also learned it needs patience, to wait for updates and get warm with it.
Like you said i think a lot people might stop maybe using it after going trough some default presets and thinking it is like playing a synth. But i also saw people raving about it as best thing ever if you really learn to use it.
Its a love/hate thing for me but mostly the love is bigger.
But the truth is without your additional content (and also the really needed Kaleidoscope expansion) i would have give up myself.
I am not as smart as the 2CAudio guys or you but i slightly begin to learn how to really get the musical effect out of it in a much more controlled way.
I just hope its worth it for the 2CAudio guys to invest much time in it and one day a v2 comes true where it might be indeed again a game changer and also more easy to create own content like drawing your own pictures (i know it is not so easy but just said from a dumb customer view).

Over the years I've had a few hundred KS subscribers, some dropped out after a year, some haven't unsubscribed since day one, so there are definitely people out there using it and I know of some of my subscribers who are using KS for sound-designing big Hollywood blockbuster movies.Cinebient wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2020 4:14 pmOf course i am a subscriber for your Kaleidoscope presets also, my one and only subscription for a music tool but worth it for sureSampleconstruct wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2020 3:45 pmI don't think anyone but Andrew and me (and a few Beta users back in 2014) ever produced content for KS. As it's marketed mainly as an effect, many users expect that if they send a synth sequence or a guitar or whatever else into KS and flip through a few presets they will find something useful which is usually not the case unless they have at least changed the root note and the tuning file to match their project.
I am mainly using KS as a synthesizer these days fed by external noise sources like ocean waves, wind, water, field recordings made in cities or factories, other industrial noises, spoken word, everything which has little or no tonal content at all. The richer/noisier the signal is you send into KS the more interesting stuff will come out of it and using KS as a sequecner for rhythmical stuff can get pretty awesome too.

My really opening become B2, although initially I was going to buy just exactly Kaleidoscope (and B2 just can be said together, like an impulse purchase). But since then I realized that I would have made a big mistake if i had not grab it, this is an awesome reverb with infinite amount of clusters\damping forms.
About possible further B2 injections - frankly i'm affraid so that something could be spoiled by accident. He already masterpiece "as is" now.
What about Kaleidoscope, it has in my opinion just one moment due to which does not allow to fully go inside it - this lack of tail (feedback) infinity. It's sad enough.
Moreover, so that it could an mode, regardless of the configurations of the other parameters (scale\frequency\size etc, well except damping ofcourse ). Although would be even be happy with these dependencies. But true infinity really need for this thing. Although it seems that this request sounds somewhat contrary to our novaday circumstances, but nevertheless.

B2 is quite like Kaleidoscope for me. It can do "normal" things if you like but also can change the incoming sound source in such creative way. So you really can say that are exact that. Creative FX.
An infinity mode sounds interesting but its already the biggest CPU killer of any music tools i own (even if v1.1. is much better as the beginning).
If i compare it to other resonators i wish it had a few more options to edit but then you have up to 512 tunable resonators and more. At the end it is still one of the most unique FX out there and i think it will stay for a long time. There are other which do similar things but Kaleidoscope is next level here and still more easy to use.
The magic starts for me if you hit a sweet spot (often by happy accident when i tweak things and try out different settings, tunings, presets etc.) and then you get all those like micro melodies and harmonies across the whole stereo and tonal field. Sounds almost like to put together 100 little pads, soundscapes and melodies and they just glue together.
In general i must say 2CAudio is really forward thinking and innovative. Actually i am happy with all the Logic intern FX and just use Replika-XT on top. One exception, i use all the 2CAudio stuff because for me they are the best in this spatialization field (i do not count things which costs 1000´s i never could afford or tried).
B2 is just the bomb (lol). Then Aether is great (but i do not use it often). The PJB system with Precedence and Breeze 2 is another game changing thing for me. First i only use Precedence also for "simple" panning now since it works better as everything else for me like simple balance panning, stereo panning and even binaural panning (just i wished the front/back, up/down would exist in Precedence also).
The edit things all from one GUI and the Precedence and Breeze 2 connection is innovative and next level as well. Not sure if any other tool allows that beside maybe Fabfilter (but that is not quite on the same level).
I dream of a future where all the 2CAudio FX are connected with each other in this way and they all gone binaural as well. I hope B2 gets also the same Breeze 2 connection to Precedence.
So what this 2 guys (or are they 3 now?) already did is just amazing and i should not forget that they are indeed a very small team and not a 100+ beancounter company.
Hope all are well and enjoy the rest of Easter!
