Weird - website back up after 40 minutes, no changes (not even taking down the expired offers in my account)
That's about 3 times this week it was down for maintence for a significant time with no obvious changes afterwards- just a spring clean or maybe setting something up in the background we cant see? Maybe related to sharing/networking (official preset share area?) or pages they just haven't made visible yet!

I also hope they add some form of comping, but I doubt it will be as well developed as on traditional linier DAWS that are built around that type of workflow (live instruments, linear production). There are lots of workarounds using clips that actually work pretty well, but if you want the 'king' of comping I would recommend Studio One.
Ableton Live seems to have manged to leave it out for 10 consecutive versions! Doesn't seem to have stopped it being incredibly popular, but makes you think adding comping may be more of an issue to clip based sequencers.

yes to all of thisHanz Meyzer wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 1:47 pm A tracker view programmed by Taktik, so Bitwig also will be the best tracker. Then lot of small, but fine workflow improvements, inplace pianoroll, better layered editing, new layer on top instead behind. Harmonic/scale settings within pianoroll. Lot of new shortcuts. Completed eq. Free drawable LFO. Range for dynamics fx. Improved gate with hold. Better render dialogue with placeholder variables, auto selection, muting while live rendering etc. Save file formats now use compressed xml instead binary chunk data. All analysers have a setting for slope factor, from 0, +3db, +4db, +4.5db to +4.8db. Moving loop while playing incl. playhead correction. Expanding/shrinking loop incl. playhead correction. All with shortcuts. Shortcut for playing note(s) under current position (white playback is stopped). Move playhead by shortcuts. Multitake recording. Midi time offset per track, non destructive. Shuffle setting per track, using the global amount as maximum. Mdi/Audio reset on stop button double click.

I definitely agree with Ableton being an issue. They are going to have some issues getting things like comping just because of the way the application was built. They can do it but design wise it may take some effort on their part.SLiC wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2020 9:51 amI also hope they add some form of comping, but I doubt it will be as well developed as on traditional linier DAWS that are built around that type of workflow (live instruments, linear production). Bitwig on the other already seems to have the tools in place they just haven't really put them together. The way audio clips work in Bitwig seems tailor made to allow comping. If they added a layer system to that they should be able to do it imo.

There is no reason it can't be done "as well". Heck, it can be done better. I would just copy a REAPER style comping personally.SLiC wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2020 9:51 amI also hope they add some form of comping, but I doubt it will be as well developed as on traditional linier DAWS that are built around that type of workflow (live instruments, linear production). The workarounds are clumsy at best and take MUCH longer. I have a hard time even calling clip based recording a workaround.
Ableton does not have it and its still popular but that dosnt mean people dont want it. Look at the requests its right at the top. I recon many Btiwig folks feel the same

I think / hope they're waiting to gather enough new features to make it really substantial. Unlike that 3.1 "shitshow" that satisfied what maybe 10 people wanted...ckam03 wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2020 7:54 pm Man when is the beta going to drop?? It's been 4 months! Hopefully it's soon. We've all got a lot more time on our hands these days.

You can comp in Ableton Live quite easily.SLiC wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2020 9:51 amI also hope they add some form of comping, but I doubt it will be as well developed as on traditional linier DAWS that are built around that type of workflow (live instruments, linear production). Really, how so? Highlight ranges of several tracks and it automatically makes a complete track with cross fades promoting the most recently highlighted part to the company track and the. Bouncing to one track when complete etc?

Convoluted yes, difficult no.apoclypse wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2020 2:48 amSure. It is. OMG! Its so convoluted and hard to do.machinesworking wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2020 12:42 amYou seriously can't be reasoned with.apoclypse wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2020 7:35 pm My issue with this is that one, anyone who googles how to do this in Logic may find your post and be terribly misinformed because of you biased and frankly uneducated opinion being posted as fact and two, long time Logic users know how to do all of this because it's worked that way since at least Logic 6 or 7. Not sure why it's an issue now "for a long time Logic user".![]()
Logic's method is easily more convoluted than the rest, there's nothing to argue about. It doesn't make it a terrible DAW, it just makes it a bit harder to set up if you're new at it. You basically calling me stupid and a liar isn't helping your case at all. It has not been that way since 6 or 7, but whatever I'm done talking to you about this.
