When setting the envelope curve to exponential , the attack is actually inversed exponential ( fast rising )
Would it be possible for zebra 3 to have attack stage slow rising and decay fast falling ( see screenshot , green contour )
This is currently not possible witht he standard env . modules

Yeah you'd use MSEG for that.

You can also get the desired effect by modulating the envelope Slope parameter ;)

also (for me personally) adding extra slopes to the standard envelope modules is just... bloat. I want the envs to be quick and easy for the most common use cases, MSEGs for other stuff. There's a point at which adding a bunch of options just makes them more cumbersome to use.

Post

How could an extra slope parameter for the attack stage be bloat ?

It's not just about extra functions , but about how the exisitng ones are implemented
If I wan't a slow rising (slope) attack and fast falling decay , the existing curves won't let you
Using the mseg to do exactlythat is imho bloat , using an extra envelope for just that

My 2 cents

my 49.(9) cents.

Having envelope module with controllable curves is nice. May be it makes sense to put them in expanding/contracting block but indeed it should be one click away and require no modulation or any other trickery to create.

Same is applicable to Hive.

IMO forcing people to use MSEG in such easy cases is counterproductive, especially considering how outdated editors in Z2.
Murderous duck!

There's little point in kludging the regular envelopes in trusty old Zebra2 to include such a feature at this stage of the game. Use MSEG. That's a suggestion, not a command ;)

Well obviously Urs is not going to change anything in Z2. So it's more like Z3 request.

MSEGs are heavenly.
Looping EG combined with MSEG can get you crazy attacks and modulations.

UK Rapper with fiery hit Don’t Rush uses a Bassline reminiscent of the Come Together baseline by the Beatles, only 808’d really well.

Took me a day to get the MSEG just right but a single Osc branched off into Mains/Sine Wave, Bus 1/OSC 1 + Comp, Bus 2/Distortion Dual Tube.

Also can do Baba O’Reilly note for note 1:1 sound thanks to MSEG.

Also helps to have a quality controller that sends fixed velocity values like 128/Max. DAWs do this easily but harder to find in hardware.
And hardware can’t do what ZebraHZ does.

The only soft synth I can use live that can keep up with discrete audio hardware.

Thanks again Howard & the ZMan.
