Me, too. Bitwig is allready great. Though I wouldn't mind a 3.3 that refines what's there. Qol stuff and other little things like midi stretch and more advanced groove.djrevise5 wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 2:46 pm I agree - the progress they have made so far is impressive, Bitwig 3 is amazing and will only continue to improve - just not exactly how each user wants it to![]()
3.2 (Beta 1) is OUT!!!

Have you told the devs about it?blablablerg wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 2:55 pm I like that they gave the option for the tool device to bottom out. But is no one bothered by the fact that the meter of the tool device yellows at -28 dB and not -18 dB like the small meters? It makes the big tool meter kinda useless and annoying tbf.

Dev's are following this thread
If this beta is anything like the last few a lot of little things like that will be fixed along the way (some have already) and other stuff will still be added during the beta!
Now is the time to point out little fixes and easy wins around the new features 'in this beta' (plenty of times/threads on major new features other people want that are not in this particular release)

I don't care about the vast majority of musicians... I care about my own interests. MPE is an essential and non negotiable feature for me.Kongru wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 12:54 pmYou could argue that all of those things are non-essential for the vast majority of musicians.SLiC wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 12:36 pm….MPE, smart collections, pop up browser, in clip editing, clips and arranger on the same screen, hybrid tracks, smart tool....antic604 wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 11:58 am
And I really enjoy working in Live again! Just started a new project and it's a lot of fun, even though I do miss modulators, some basic splitter tools, easy bouncing...
(What have the Romans ever done for us....)
I always disliked the Live browser. But I lived with it. After a while I stopped using M4L cause it crashed far too much. It was annoying that I had to use M4L just to have a basic LFO. So I just did without the LFO and adjusted. Stability is very important to me.
MPE is what made me switch to Bitwig. I am fine to keep using Bitwig cause it is super stable and rarely ever crashes. My needs are pretty simple. Bitwig satisfies them pretty well.

I'm not talking about VST shortcut. Just go and check the list of available shortcut destinations and tell me you're using more than 1/3 of themkeel wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 2:16 pmThese shortcuts for VSTi has been request first time on 2015. And in fact, many do use them. Something what you don't need, is gold for other people. Not everything is for you, even you seems to expect so. Bitwig developers don't own you anything. If they want to make colorful EQ or shortcuts, then they do it. Deal with it or move on. If you don't like your Bitwig, you can always go to use your Live, Reason, S1 or million other DAW's you have. No need to feed negative atmosphere here.

So it's fine that over the last 2 years I've been trying to be helpful to people, was "evangelising" Bitwig around the web and defending dev choices; but when I have some complaints I should keep it to myself?brunomolteni wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 2:27 pmMan are you ok? Something happened to you lately ? You can write me a pm if you are passing through a rough patch... But I dont think taking it out here is a way to deal with it.antic604 wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 1:59 pmYou'll probably have to wait until v3.5 or 4 for that, because it's apparently more important to have 2/3 of shortcuts for things no one uses or asked for. Not to mention they're cryptically named, like 'switch mode' that toggles between Clip Launcher and Arranger or the mythical 'toggle active' that all new users are trying to re-map to 0 (zero)ChrisDW wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 1:52 pm It would be great to have a shortcut to Toggle Audition Notes ON/OFF![]()

The problem is everything they did with EQ+ could've been added to EQ-5 (other than 3 extra bands).brownerthanu wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 1:23 pmI can why it was very time consuming because good eq is nontrivial, but at the same time did we really need that? I do like the sound of the new grid filters though. They have a vaguely Zebra2 sound to me which I very much like. The resonance is nice and crisp.
Also, why can't you just choose node types / slope steepness from the node itself? Or mute it from there? Or overlay sidechain signal from elsewhere to compare? It's much closer to EQ-5 than to Pro-Q3, so why separate it to yet another device?

Audio Engine crashed OS X 10.11.6
Neat new feature within the Beta the ability to send a crash report within the app.
Saves having to go to the website.

Here is some cool stuff I am just getting my head around….
The arpeggiator now has a pitch control for each step and tracks micro pitch changes and polyphonic aftertouch (for us minority MPE users
!)
The ' voice modes' for triggering of layers look like they may be really useful- assigning different presets or even different plug-ins to each 'note' of a chord!! Manual layer switching with key switches should be useful to almost everyone who likes to jam out live! Improvising dropping fx in and out whilst playing...
Dropping a sample in to the grid now is cool (try it!), cool little workflow feature.
I have already decided I cant live without the new mini displays in the mixer view and the renaming of files in the editor (how did I not know I needed that
)

Yup, a modulatable filter with key tracking and 15 modes and combos - very nice- I wonder if U-HE had anything to do with it
There really is a lot in this new update, you have to dig in!

Sometimes its easier to redo something from scratch than enhancing/fixing what is there. I guess that is one reason. The same is probably the reason why we have FM-4 and Phase-4. And that way they can throw the old versions into 8-track and 16-track and give those users one more argument to upgrade...antic604 wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 3:32 pm It's much closer to EQ-5 than to Pro-Q3, so why separate it to yet another device?

Officially the minimum requirement is OS X 10.13 High Sierra.PsYAuM wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 3:35 pm Audio Engine crashed OS X 10.11.6

You probably have to live with it. I upgraded to Mojave and have no problems whatsoever... (Catalina has to wait for some years...)
