Just an interesting development. And helps explain why Waveform has been supporting SOUL so “early”.
PACE = iLok
I doubt there’ll be any material impact on Waveform. It’s possible this is a good thing, if PACE can put more $ into it than ROLI.

That’s a lot of four letter words/acronyms....

Would rather install a physical turd on my computer than iLok, so if this means Tracktion products get infected with PACE junk I am out of here.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

It's a toss up as to what is the worse for your health....
Covid-19 or iLok ?
But quite clearly,it is iLok that has the greatest impact, because the data shows us that the majority of people will recover from Covid-19...
I've been practicing strict social distancing from iLok for many years now and it feels great
Now,if only they could develop a permanent vaccine for Pace
No auto tune...

I have many plugins on an ilok usb. Never an issue yet. Would I be happier if those plugins didn’t require ilok? Sure. But I have the plugins I want and wasn’t going to let it stop me.
I don’t think ilok will have anything to do with JUCE. Or tracktion.

No more than a VST that relies on iLok is Tracktion's fault. Tracktion has nothing to do with this.pough wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2020 12:05 am Would rather install a physical turd on my computer than iLok, so if this means Tracktion products get infected with PACE junk I am out of here.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

I'm glad to hear that it's worked for you. It was a nightmare for me. I spent about $1000 on software I was never able to use effectively. I'll pick my battles. PACE-infected software stays off my system. Lots of other options and I'm happy with the VST alternatives I found, but I'm never getting that time or money back.
Of course, just because PACE now owns JUCE doesn't mean that TSC will incorporate it into Waveform, but I do think that if JUCE develops easy ways to add PACE protection then TSC might consider using it. Less development time on copy protection means more development time on other things.
Anyways, good things for JUCE means good things for all of us so I hope this is a good thing.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Kind of a a major deal for Pace and a bit of a sell out on the other end. Well, we all gotta make a buck
I guess. Personally I don't have a problem with iLok. I don't really see much gain on the part of PACE
in forcing JUCE users to use PACE, lotta devs would say screw you to that. No doubt they will build
some kind of priority support for it into JUCE, still, I expect it will remain optional.

People over at gearslutz have similar fears about PACE forcing iLok on all JUCE users. I think Tracktion is totally hot but not enough for an iLok infection.

I am sure they paid a good sum of money...... these Americans will most certainly want to make it back.

Tracktion company has nothing to do with JUCE people for a long time and there is no reason why JUCE plug-ins and apps would force their users to use PACE protection system. Seriously guys

Interesting. Thanks for the heads up. If you want, you could also post this on a general part of this forum, I'm sure it'd be interesting for some people.vitocorleone123 wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 5:52 pm Just an interesting development. This only holds true until a under-worked management guy feels the need to flood his Powerpoint slides with "using the synergies that we have in the portfolio to increase the shareholder value" or similar buzzword diarrhea.Ivan_C wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2020 1:41 pm Tracktion company has nothing to do with JUCE people for a long time and there is no reason why JUCE plug-ins and apps would force their users to use PACE protection system. Can't say I'm surprised that Roli isn't running too well. Somehow they are the typical initially over-financed tech company that then makes questionable decisions, has so-so software, so-so hardware, buys so-so companies and doesn't really have a feel for their customers (or reality as a concept).
Wouldn't be surprised to see them go belly up.

I ordered a keyboard from Roli that was 20% off on Black Friday. Nothing happened. Then I found nothing was happening for lots of other people. The stated days till delivery came and went. Then there was a notice about delays and a statement that all orders by December 19th would be fulfilled by Christmas. Both passed. New Year arrived, along with another 20% offer. A few emails went unanswered. Then, about seven weeks after I'd placed my order, an email came telling me my payment had been held up and fallen through the cracks in their "system" due to a possible security issue that my credit card company knew nothing about. The email said they'd refunded my payment (true) and if I placed the order again (but when was the next 20% offer? They didn't say) they'd throw in a software freebie (which was less of a freebie than they made it sound) when the keyboard arrived.
I didn't quite get round to it.
