abique wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2020 3:22 pmI find it interesting to read a poll, because it is a short overview of what a subset of the community wants.
Then why you - Bitwig devs - won't make one? Ableton or Presonus have feature request forums where everyone can post, comment and vote up and they - slowly, but surely - tick off the most requested features.

It'd probably take less time to set it up than programming in rainbow colours to select devices ;)

It really ticked your button that color thing? :D
Hope Bitwig is built in a way so the devs might think it is easy enough to give the user controls over colors/brightness where, it, is, possible.
Bitwig 3.2 has (for me) obviously improved over 2.4 easy and still room for improvements, but they only have 8 hands? (i think) :)
Ps, i do listen, just don't know how to please the whole planet other than giving the user some options. :)

It is an awkward shoehorn if the only reason the two knobs exist is strictly for backward compatibility.

I'd love a practical reason why there are two different knobs doing the same thing.
Just my 2 cents, suppose you have an audio track that's rather low in volume..
-with the Tool gain you can bring that up in level with the other tracks
-use the Volume knob (goes to infinity) for volume automation
-use the track fader for overall balancing of the mix, is non automated

It did. To the point that I tracked a 2nd hand Live 10 Suite license, bought it and have a blast using it, even though I miss a lot of Bitwig's quality-of-life stuff. And it's obviously not because of added rainbows, but because it's gotten very clear that I don't like where they're going and got fed up waiting for simple things to be fixed, enhanced or added.

But even more it makes me upset to read that "some people are much more vocal than others, which implies a higher bias" without considering how those are the same people that have been vocal supporters and evangelists of Bitwig for years and acted like an informal support, helping lots of people find their way in (and to) Bitwig... That poll that SLiC linked was created by me, I even sent a link to Bitwig and it was completely ignored...

I know you've been good and helpful, almost thought you had a Bitwig tattoo.. :)
Maby i should not compare, but i can't help thinking about ReasonExpert i'm sure you know about, was a champ in teaching all was good, but he had some performance issue and he felt ignored by the devs or "something, he left also, and i was sad about that, so good teacher, fun to watch. :)
I (principles) get it but i guess, just do stuff because you love it, don't expect anything back, my only advice. :)
Hope you can stick around with us loosers for a while anyway? ;) :)

Good luck with Live... seriously.

Speaking to everyone in general this is a good idea and I brought it up recently on FB in one of those top 3 request threads. That said, imo there has to be limits and the Bitwig Devs should of course have freedom. Sometimes mob rule sucks. What if we get an influx of users that want a meme generator so we can send memes to each other via the new chat box? Or worst, some kind of redundant collab system because some people are scared in the short term. :troll:

No seriously, I didn't see anyone ask for returns/MIDI follow () on the Drum Machine anywhere, I haven't seen it in any polls either, but I've been wanting this since I laid eyes Bitwig. My point being whether I like it or not, and usually I don't, the (seemingly) minority should get some bread crumbs too. Looking at that poll SLiC posted, what I want the most is on top: *Comping* next to the majority Track freeze (wtf? :dog:) and Time-stretch in Sampler (sensible) but a kick ass sequencer is left in the dust and that's just classic electronic musician type stuff. Of course we should have a kick ass sequencer, even if I never use it. How is groove pool not more popular? Most you can't play, how are you going to get any groove? :hihi: Also lets not forget that sometimes Bitwig gives us stuff we didn't know we wanted. That's always nice.

Remember this old forum poll people? IMO every DAW should have great piano roll tools, again I won't be using them much at all.

I do remember that poll, I remember thinking if those top 4 things are the things that are most important to you then you should be using Studio One ;-)

I also remember the Ableton Live Poll, in clip editing and comping were number 1 and 2 for many years and when 10 came out they added a wavetable synth instead ;-)
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

An option to show the most voted in the q&a section in Bitwig site could be a good starting point.

I wonder if there's some kind of technical limitation on the comping. IDK, that stuff is above my head. I'm just doing it old school (for daws) for now.

Strangely I found that NOT having all those modulators at my disposal so readily lets me do finish stuff and move on more quickly. It helps I started with Live, so I find my way faster than I would 3 years ago. Similar thing with keyboard shortucts - in Bitwig I'd experiment with different versions all the time, switch them around, etc. In Live it's either there or not. Learn & move on. It's refreshing to look at it that way. Perhaps simpler is sometimes better, but then I shouldn't be surprised having tried Cubase and liking the much simpler, "limited" Studio One more :)

Reading 17 pages per KVR threads takes a lot of time, requires the capacity to digest a lot of negativity and some people are much more vocal than other, which implies an higher bias.
We thank you for taking the time to be active in this forum during the 3.2 beta period!
