Hello friends,
I was wondering if anyone has been able to get touch osc working with waveform 11? by working i mean fully working which means not only does touch osc control waveform via the ipad app, but touch osc also receives feedback from waveform thus allowing the states of all buttons / faders / rotary knobs / clocks to be synched between ipad (touchosc) and daw (waveform 11)
i'm on windows 10, using waveform pro 11. My version of touch osc is the most current.
so, i'm able to get touchosc to wirelessly control waveform, which is great, but it seems like it is only able to send control messages: it is not receiving feedback from waveform.
to set it up, in waveform i have created a "custom control surface" using the "osc" protocol. then you go to your touch osc app (ipad) and set it up to communicate with the pc.
i have it working perfectly with the same computer and same ipad when i use reaper using the same settings in both reaper and waverform: with reaper i get full control with full feedback = two way communication. with waveform, you can control waveform with touchosc, you just have zero feedback on the ipad. any thoughts? but first and foremost, has anyone gotten it to work with both control and feedback in waveform 11?
more detail on what's not working: i am getting no feedback on the ipad itself. for example, the timecode clock doesn't work (doesn't change state) on the ipad in touchosc when you press play on either the ipad or in the daw. also the virtual faders and rotary knobs in touch osc are not synched with waveform and when you hit any toggle button like a mute or solo, it does not show that it has been activated on the ipad. like when you press the mute button, it should turn red to show you it is active. same goes for transport buttons.
i have reached out to tracktion tech support, but i imagine they are understaffed like everyone else is right now?
also, since i have the pro version, i have been able to use the "the quick actions" feature which is designed for touch pad control. this feature is essentially an undocked mixer window that you can drag to another monitor. it's said to be optimized for dragging it to a touch screen monitor, so i used an ipad app called duet display that turns my ipad into a touchscreen enabled second monitor. this is pretty cool and works great except it doesn't have a master fader, a transport or timecode (the clock), which is key for me since i like to sit in different parts of the home studio when i record myself on different instruments. another thing of note, you can drag the entire waveform main window over to the ipad with this app, but it's just so small that you probably would need a stylus to use it with accuracy (even though it's awesome to see the entire program looking as if it's running on my ipad!).
final thought, i am using the free demo version of waveform 11 pro. perhaps this feature is disabled? i am under the impression that it is 100% fully functional for 90 days, but perhaps i am mistaken?
thanks!!!
