Not a freebie, but can highly recommend the (50% off at €4.99) Rusty Keys collection for Analog Lab/Pigments, very nice blend of processed keyboard sounds.
It's one of the first of theirs I've had where just about every sound is usable.

Agree with this. I also got this a while ago. Good pack.

Can anyone recommend any Pigments packs that are good? The Pigments packs are usually priced higher (they tend to have double or triple the preset counts than regular arturia collection packs) so I usually don't pull the trigger on them.
You might notice the newer ones are the higher priced ones mostly, especially for Pigments. The higher priced ones usually are more presets as well (but not always).
I picked up four. Two were made with Pigments in mind. Wavetable Choirs & Aphex Ambient seem good so far, but haven't delved too deeply into yet.
The other two I picked up is the XTGrain for CMI, which I also like and Efficient Pads 2, which is made with three other synths. All seem worth the sale price to me.
Might pick up the 21st Century Organs as well...
those are pretty much the ones i was looking at. I checked out Synthwave 2085. a cool pack and lots of preset sounds, but mostly its exactly what its called, synth wave sounds which i like but still. i am mostly using pigments as a specific synth for a specific function. i am look at
- 21st century organs -- for richer & more modern organ sounds
- wavetable chiors - for newer sounding choir sounds.
- overblack -- for some new bass sounds in my collection.
- XT Grains -- i really like the pads but just not sure about the developer. Simon Gallifet?? anyone heard other stuff he has done?

I was searching for Rusty, but actually it's Rusted Keys.

I personally like the Tactile Strike bank for Pigments.

Ah of course it is Rust-ed Keys, sorry. :dog:

Yeah, YMMV a lot with what preset banks you're interested in - for me the tactical strike pack sounds weren't that interesting, mainly I think because I already own AAS Chromophone 2 and that's my go to for that sort of sound. I buy presets to use, but also to learn how to rip-off the techniques the better preset producers employ for my own ends hence buying a few packs where I wasn't particularly interested in the sounds themselves. In the 'being taught to fish' analogy stakes it's buying a fishing rod, a book on fishing and a freezer full of fish.

As I said with Pigments when demoing the presets it's a good idea to read the developer notes carefully and play with the macro knobs because a patch that sounds relatively uninteresting initially can contain multitudes with a bit of modulation wheel or macro knob twiddle.

Are you safe?

That's fine. :)

Yes, actually a big fan of mallets and bells, which is the reason I liked Tactile Strike. Rusted Keys is quite good too, but something that I might not really use.

I agree about the developer notes. It is a very good feature of Arturia products and can be really helpful to "know" the sound. I am not deep in sound design, but I do like to tinker with parameters.

I had bought Pigments some time ago, but I still haven't used it in a song. I would like to change that soon and along the way explore and experiment with the preset banks I own, too.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I might stick with JRR for now but I'm not sure.
What’s pretty big? $11 doesn’t sound like much of a reward if it’s a pretty big order. Anyway, from what I remember, Eric loses a lot of money on fraudulent order chargebacks and has to make money somehow. I’d imagine it’s tough to keep a solvent business if you’re selling things at near cost AND losing money from theft.

XT Grains it was. Pads are right up my alley. Good sound designer.

That is a bit weird lol I didn't even notice it.
If it matters any bit I ended up purchasing through JRRshop just because it was slightly easier and I've had good past experiences and also I like rock and roll and Japan.
11USD is around 17 Canadian(paypal rates). That's the average wage for an hour of work so it's not really just a small amount to everyone.

Anyways I've moved on from this rant, time for a new one:
Screw every store that sends "Did you forget something" or "Oh we saved this for you", "Are you sure you want to leave this behind", "Oh we thought you were so stupid that you forgot that you tried shopping with us so here's a reminder to fall for our subliminal sales scheme and spend money on our store" e-mails.

...and to keep things less ranty here's a deal conversation topic: Has anyone bought anything from the Eastwest sale? 60% off seems pretty decent. I've been wanting to try out Symphonic Choirs for a long time now so I finally got it. I'm tempted on hollywood choirs but I'll pass on it for now until the next sale.

Post

60% is a good sales price for EW. They usually do 50%. Add the Group discount at JRR and you really have a deal.

Both have been very popular. The Hollywood series is excellent.
