Muziksculp wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 12:37 amThanks for the feedback. So, this would mean that the standard Melodyne version that is built into S1 4.6 is already ARA2 spec. wise.
Melodyne has supported ARA 2 since version 4.2, which Celemony released in October of 2018.
Studio One 4.0 was released in May of 2018. So as you can see, Studio One 4 was "ready for" ARA 2 once Melodyne implemented it.

Muziksculp wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 12:37 amSo.. What does ARA 2 offer that ARA 1 did not ? I'm no expert on the ARA side of Studio One. :)
Celemony announces ARA 2 - Plug-ins and DAWs mesh even better
25th January 2018

"With ARA 2, the exchange of information between DAWs and plug-ins is even more comprehensive, which makes additional applications possible. The new ARA 2 specification allows, among other things, the simultaneous editing of multiple tracks, the transfer of chord track information between the DAW and the plug-in, seamless clip borders that make the manual setting of crossfades superfluous, Undo interlocking with the DAW, and much else besides."

@jamcat,

Thanks for the helpful info. I wonder what ARA 3 will offer

Post

ARA 3 will be exactly like ARA 2, but subscription and cloud-based.

In Studio One say you open a blank project, start making a few nice tracks and realize, ok it's time to add my regular Mix Template which would have your mixer settings favorite plugins already assigned to bus tracks, sends etc.

Is it yet possible to say hit a button/key command and then add these to the basic project your currently working on?
I remember this feature in Pro Tools.
I am able to sort of do something like this with Musicloops in S1 for my productions, but not clear if this feature I wrote above is in 4.6?

Last three big releases (3.5 + 4.0 + 4.5) were released 3rd week of May in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively. They have a big sale going on til Apr 30 which leads me to believe they may drop something after. So if they keep up their pattern one could presumably think they were targeting late May 2020 for v5. However, because of COVID-19 who knows how much that affected timelines + development so it could def be pushed back significantly just because of that.

Also at one of the Presonus meetups although they didn't give any specifics I just got the sense that something was gonna be coming this year probably first half of this year, so we'll see.

To address other comments here.. even if they don't have groundbreaking features things like updated plugins UI would be a welcome change because I use their stock stuff frequently. And sometimes little improvements across the DAW can add up so I'm cool with whatever they drop. There is nothing in S1 right now that is huge blocker me from me finishing songs and being productive so anything they do will be net positive imo. I'm looking forward to it.
That'd be awesome!

In a nutshell, simplified modulation system from Bitwig...

...like what Logic Pro X has:

That would be cool, not necessarily something complicated, just an external LFO or envelope/MSEG which I could assign to any parameter of any plugin, native or VST(i). I can imagine many uses for that.

Other than that I'm really happy with v.3, it already has everything I need from a DAW (v.2 already had but I had to upgrade because of an odd compatibility problem).

I make sort of "pattern based" music btw, vairous kinds of trance.

I would quit Studio One if they put something in it that looked like that Bitwig garbage.
Is that shareware?

I don't care about the Bitwig stuff but that Logic thingie looks nice and clean and seems to have all the functions I'd expect from such a tool. Having something like that in S1 would be great

Well I was just joking really, because so far Presonus hasn't had the poor judgement to make Studio One resemble Windows 98 shareware, and I don't suspect they will be vandalizing Studio One with such poor taste in the future, either.

So crying, for me at least, won't be necessary.

Oh, believe me I know they way Bitwig solved it wouldn't fit S1's GUI and/or workflow, but on its own it's a brilliant solution to the problem and facilitates very fast & creative use of modulation for sound design and manipulation of audio & MIDI. I can probably replicate 99% of the functionality in Live or Reason, but it would take 10x the time to set it up and be more CPU demanding.

To call it 'garbage' because you don't understand it or don't like the look of it simply shows you're ignorant.
