Problem using MXXX within MSF

Hello there! Brand new to the forum, and brand new to MSF as well! After a few days of forum reading and youtube viewing I somewhat have my head wrapped around this beast... kind of.

What my question is, when loading MXXX into MSF, I am quite unable to use it because it says I don't have licenses for any of the plugins. While this is very true, I was under the impression that I did not need the licenses because I'm bound to affecting the generators from within MSF.

For instance, I can load in the Saturator from within MSF just fine, but if I load in the Saturator within MXXX within MSF, it tells me I do not own the license and it emits periodic noise.
Is this by design? An oversight? Something wrong with my installation?

Thank you!

Jeez, that's weird—something's not set-up right for you. I've never had any similar troubles, and I don't own either MXXX nor licenses for most of the other plugins. I can load any MXXX preset, either built-in or from the Exchange; I can even load a 3rd-party sound-bank into MXXX inside MSF, and all the presets play fine, no errors or warnings…

How strange! I just tried reinstalling MSoundFactory and it is still happening.
I am using Ableton Live 10... I just emailed Melda and hopefully they will have an answer!

This is the response I got from Melda:

"Yeah, it is happening, because MXXX is an FX plugin and if you want to use it you need to obviously own it.
Please, check its website for more information.

In case you would like to try it and test it, use the 3 months free subscription offer mentioned in the previous email (the deal ends in two days, so you should be hurry)."

I'm a bit confused though because I can use the other FX in MSoundfactory just fine. And David said he's able to use MXXX with no issue.
Can anyone else chime in?

Ouch!! I hope nothing's changed, and that I'm not only now able to use it because I've also joined the 3-months-free sub! What I described was how it's been since the very first days with MSF as an owner, at least a year ago.

Do you have the full version of MSF? I just recently noticed that the Player and IIRC an LE version are now available, too…

Post

Yes I do have the full version. Thanks for your help, It would be nice if someone else could chime in too haha

I fully agree!

I have the same issue - but, when using MXXX1 everything works! (for me anyway).
All the plug ins/presets etc, show up and work fine.. Weird! :?

Post

I have tried both MXXX and MXXX1 and neither of them work. So bizarre.

Post

Scratch that, I just tried MXXX1 again and now it's working! Hopefully it remains that way. Thanks for your help!

I went through the effort of deactivating my licenses and deleting the key files to test this. Not having any issues here. MSF loads MXXX just fine for me. Which version are you guys on? I'm on the latest 14.05

Sorry to put you through that effort dakkra! But thank you for it.
Yes, I'm using the latest versions of everything. Loading MXXX still doesn't work, and previously loading MXXX 1 didnt work either but now it seem to work just fine. Strange. I don't even know what the differences between the two are. Number of outputs?

I didn't mention this before, but the first time I loaded MDrummer into MSF, I was greeted with intermittent noise. But that hasn't happened since. Very odd.

MXXX is multi-band (pretty big deal in it's day) whereas MXXX1 is single-band. Melda's multi-band is pretty awesome, definitely worth it's weight:

Anyway, hopefully we can get some more input/information on this issue. I've reactivated both my licenses now (MSF and MXXX) so I'm back to my normal setup.

i have the same problem. i also have MXXXcore and MCreateFXBundle, and some nice others, MSoundFactory of course (full), that arent in the MCreatFXBundle. (and will go for complete.. but that is a different thing..)
when loading MXXX in MSF, the plugins i don't have in red, i.e. demo.
when loading them as effects, no problem, in MSF, for instance turboreverb.

latest version, 14.05, windows 10 (1909).
