MSF vs MXXX

everything in MXXX is MIDI accessible, in and out.

Concerning midi out, from what I have tried, MDrummer inside of MXXX does not send midi out. The standalone MDrummer is able to though. On the other hand, the arpeggiator in MXXX does send midi out.

Get MXXX. It includes MSF.

Ahh - So, have I just made a big mistake in purchasing MSF independently - when I could of just saved more pennies over time and got MXXX instead = with MSF and all it's samples/piano/drums/presets included anyway?
Sux if I have! Personally speaking - I love the Audio FX too and would love to use them outside MSF. I really like the idea ''of everything you will ever need -"FX's/Instruments wise in a singular plugin'' - Hence MXXX!.
I love MSF and have no regrets purchasing it and I know they are separate entities/beasts, but if they all work under the one hood together cohesively, maybe a better clarification is needed?

Maybe they'll let you upgrade if you write their support. It's really misleading since the website says about MXXX

and MSF is sold as an instrument and not FX. Further down, they mention MPowerSynth being included, but they don't mention MSF.

Anyway, I've given wrong information here before, so maybe wait until someone more knowledgeable comes along...

I have MXXX and MSF separately.

One difference I can think of: with MSF you have 6 outputs to DAW. MXXX has only stereo out (even if using the 6 out MSF within MXXX).

But the main reason I like having MSF separately is simply that it more convenient and less confusing.
The mind boggles with what you can do with MXXX...MSF inside MXXX inside MSF inside MXXX etc.
But when I just want to load a nice sampled piano, or dial up a nice organ, I don't want all those windows. Sure, there are strategies I guess for dealing with all that, but I look at it like this: if I'm doing a little gig in a restaurant playing nylon guitar I don't take my big pedal board.

Nice to have the insane options, but also nice sometimes to keep it simple. And that to me makes paying separately for MSF worth it.

There might be other differences betweem MSF and MSF in MXXX, would be good to know more about this.

I will end up with both as well.. I agree I think it is a little bit messy / confusing using MSF inside MXXX.. you lose precious screen space with all the nested views and even if you pop out MSF from MXXX and make it full screen it is a bit of a pain if you use other plugins as I like to switch between them on one monitor but MSF then hogs the screen!

If I had known at the time how much I would like Melda stuff I would probably have just gone MXXX and worked with the nested insanity of MSF inside MXXX but having both is actually better I think.

Having spent the last few days demoing MXXX. I am now glad I have bought MSF separately. I totally agree it does get too messy and way way too distracting ''with what you can do '' - if you just want to work on a sound/sample/song.
I too will probably get MXXX separately in time. Maybe use MXXX for all audio FX's and MSF for all instruments/samples as I find MDrummer/MPowersynth pretty easy to use in MSF. Maybe, this is the answer to the confusion between the two?? Well for me anyway.

Makes sense to me, too, quite apart from the money saved:) I like MSF, and am perfectly happy doing most everything Melda-related inside it. In fact, I LOVE working that way—MSF changed everything for me:)

But on that point, I wonder if you or anyone else here could weigh in on another current thread about this very idea: Melda tools working inside other Melda tools.

The OP there reports that in his new version of MSF, he's NOT able to open MXXX, and gets an error/warning that says he doesn't have licenses for any of the plugins in MXXX, and so can't proceed. He's even written to Melda tech support and heard back that this is exactly right (contrary completely to, eg. MY experience with MSF), saying:

"Yeah, it is happening, because MXXX is an FX plugin and if you want to use it you need to obviously own it.
Please, check its website for more information.

In case you would like to try it and test it, use the 3 months free subscription offer mentioned in the previous email (the deal ends in two days, so you should be hurry)."

Is something changing about this recently?? Anyone else having the OP's experience, or are you all having MY experience, that MXXX (and MDrummer, and MPS) are all present and correct, and working well inside my full version of the unparalleled MSF?

I only have the issue with MXXX not working in MSF - Posted this on that thread - that MXXX1 works fine and seems to work for the OP too. We are both on 14.05 by the looks of it. MDrummer/MPowerSynth all work fine in MSF as well. Maybe the next update will explain things a bit better.
