I just want a good price on Ovox but of course that's one of the excluded ones. It must be doing well as they basically haven't gone down from the $70 price point since release.

I will wait for Ovox to get it on a sale for $40 even if it means waiting Black Friday.

What? This must cost more to support your decision to buy a UAD device? AKA I'm better than you because I spent more for the same thing? Or maybe it's the Apple thing. I'm paying more so it must be better? (Sometimes it is)WatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 11:25 pmhttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giffen_gooddzilizzi wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 7:27 pmOkay, the UAD interfaces are up there with RME. But you'd think it would be cheaper since you also have to buy the hardware.telecode wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 6:39 pmprobably the same people that buy a $1000 UAD arrow interface.Calenberger wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 6:29 pmThese prices are completely crazy, just insane!monomox wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 6:11 pmnow they're only four times as expensive as the average plugin, hurry!telecode wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 5:32 pm Not sure if a deal. but UAD plugins all on sale for 50% off.

Who the hell is buying that stuff?
Then again, their sales pool is going to be small, (only those who own XX interface) so they can't sell as much.
See also "reassuringly expensive"
I was thinking more along the lines of "hey I had to pay $$$$ for your interface and now I have to pay quadruple than what I would pay elsewhere for a similar effect? You can only sell it to people like me and I don't see the value." But I guess most UAD people are in the first group.

Uncle E wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 7:34 pmIt's just IR's so either company should be able to do it equally well. EastWest Spaces also has studio IR's.telecode wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 6:27 pm How do you figure that? IKM Sunset Sound reverb is $150 the UAD Ocean Way reverb is $170. Which one do you think might be from a better quality plugin company?
Spot on both !!!imrae wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 9:46 pm I'm not going back to slog through those long, unstructured, information-sparse and name-dropping-heavy posts to check. My current understanding is that SSSR is just a soft clipper and some IRs. Apparently that's proprietary and they don't want to talk about how it's special, just insist that it is.
And acting "not-this-again-offended", does also not make IK appear convincing
Personally I am also tired of producers being dusted of, and selling them self and their
credit to software-comagnies, speaking as paid, in front of a on-lighted mixingdesk,...
Why is this nessesary ?
Was the last pay-check to low ?
Can't the product stand on its own two legs ?
I respect producers, in most cases, but prefer to see them at neutral ground, if any,
not running around and selling this and that,.. it's just over-done

My tinnitus literally makes certain frequencies painful for me. I rationalize that no one else likes those frequencies, either, and I just happen to be better at hearing them.n9research wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 9:16 pm (translation - I'll do anything to distract people from the realisation that my 65-year old ears are shot to hell)

Smaller customer base. Companies that make native software have the potential to reach at least 100x more customers.dzilizzi wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 4:19 am What? This must cost more to support your decision to buy a UAD device?
Universal Audio released Ocean Way Sound 7 years ago (almost to the day). With Sunset Sound, IK Multimedia is the first company to offer something that can fully compete with it, there wasn't a similar effect for all that time in between.I was thinking more along the lines of "hey I had to pay $$$$ for your interface and now I have to pay quadruple than what I would pay elsewhere for a similar effect?
With that said, you're completely right that UAD people do buy the UAD versions of Brainworx and Softube plugins for much higher prices than the native versions. I've got nothing to say about that, it makes no sense to me.

You could get 30% off as part of a Valentines Day promotion so would have paid $49Greenstorm33 wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 3:28 am I just want a good price on Ovox but of course that's one of the excluded ones. I don't know, I'm kind of into it if it's done right. My favorite engineer, Mark "Spike" Stent, works at EastWest now, and the designer of Studio One, Nuendo, and the current incarnation of Cubase, Wolfgang Kundrus, has been working on something big with them for over a year. Those associations certainly make me look at EastWest in a different light.HM wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 5:02 am Personally I am also tired of producers being dusted of, and selling them self and their

I'm not really a fan of the Waves signature plugins but the Andrew Scheps and Greg Wells plugins are quite good, IMO. Maybe when you combine quality with a little star recognition, that's when the magic happens.

UAD support their customer base with frequent vouchers. Also a very large number of their plugins are directly compatible with Console 1. Both of these make their plugins much more attractive.Uncle E wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 5:38 amSmaller customer base.
