It's way too expensive for what you get. I'd probably pay at the most $150 for this plugin, but at their current price it's pretty laughable.
I suppose if you have to have the sounds of the early 2000s in your music this is a gem, but I really don't see the allure here at all.

Indeed - workstations don't really have a shiny future ahead of them in VST land imo. The market is already saturated with workstation-quality products and - more importantly - infinitely better quality products. So I see it as you do - if you want those very specific sounds to recreate a very specific era then its helpful, and I've no doubt there's real gems in there, but its all rather niche in terms of overall appeal, especially at the price.V0RT3X wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 4:45 am Ok I had a pretty good go with the Triton demo and well I'm pretty underwhelmed to be completely honest.

Your last sentence doesn't make sense.I have a 30 yr old MS-20 to compare the software version to and they are indeed very close.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 4:55 pmI agree. As happy as I am about the new GUIs, to me the MS-20 just doesn't cut it as far as sound. Especially when I have Diva and The Drop to get actual MS-20 type sounds.popnfloss wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 6:21 am I appreciate that they finally made the GUI better but now double clicking doesn't reset the knobs and the plugins seem to steal all PC keyboard input from Ableton. And honestly I think the emulation itself needs a rewrite just as badly as the GUI did - if you compare the MS-20 plugin with a real MS-20 it's not even close.

I'd say Korg Triton is probably one of the most exciting synths released in past couple of years. This thing is eminently usable with with little tweaking and has so many well programmed sounds. I think this is one of the main things that sets the old hardware well apart from the newer VST-s - most of the times I just do not like any of the presets. It's often made worse by the fact that many of the VST-s have exactly the same people programming the sounds and this leads them to create the same sounds over and over again, just with another synth.

Korg support has just sent me an email about my Odyssey stand-alone crashing...
They acknowledge there is a problem now and are telling me I need to contact Korg support directly.
What???

Communication from their support is terrible. They copy/paste responses and/or say completely illogical things. I don't think they ever spend much time reading what is sent to them.

They come as standalones...?
Why did nobody tell me?
Just fired up the Wavestation standalone app, OMG I never knew. Like a bit of standalone at times, lovely not to open up a DAW.

Their support is better than their web coders and bean counters.Forgotten wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 4:55 pm Communication from their support is terrible. They copy/paste responses and/or say completely illogical things. I don't think they ever spend much time reading what is sent to them.
If Software Pass were some lucrative malware, it would be one thing.
But if they want money, let people easily try demos and then purchase
what they like, just put the links out in plain sight, and get some better
web designers/coders.
Cheers

Tone2 released a little utility that lets you run a plugin
like a standalone, very handy, I use it for Synth1 and other plugins
that have preset management, like U-he, HG Fortune, discoDSP etc

With a good midi controller, it's a bit like having a warehouse
of hardware synths with very large LED's

It is a nice freebie from Tone2. I just wish it supported WASAPI audio in Windows.glokraw wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 5:22 pmTone2 released a little utility that lets you run a plugin like a standalone, very handy, I use it for Synth1 and other plugins that have preset management, like U-he, HG Fortune, discoDSP etc

Thanks for the tip.
Doesn't work on my OS of choice unfortunately, but some of my fave plugins come standalone anyway - Geist 2 , Omnisphere, Kontakt (Player)...

Nah, the MS-20 plugin is definitely showing its age and needs to be redone. I haven't heard any comparisons of the Polysix and Mono/Poly plugins but I'm sure they could use a revamp as well. These plugins were written in 2004, CPUs and analog emulation have massively improved since then and Diva with the "bite" filters sounds much better than the MS-20 plugin does. Korg did a great job with the new Odyssey plugin so I'm sure they could get their other analog emulations sounding much better if they made the effort, but I doubt that will happen any time soon.risome wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 8:31 amYour last sentence doesn't make sense.I have a 30 yr old MS-20 to compare the software version to and they are indeed very close.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 4:55 pmI agree. I found a bug in Wavestation on v 2.0. Was there an update at any point? How would I get it if so?
The bug is when selecting the dance kit from CARD 4, pressing apply and OK. It crashes my DAW.
Otherwise, does this mean I would have to send an email to Korg about it?
Thanks

If Korg Software Pass isn't working for you (as is the case for many of us), you can download any updates from https://id.korg.com/users/sign_in. Since Korg doesn't bother to note the version of the plug-in you're downloading (or any date it might have been updated), you won't know if it's newer than what you have until you download it, unfortunately.yul wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 2:35 am I found a bug in Wavestation on v 2.0. If you would like Korg to address the problem you're having, you should e-mail them, and tell them which DAW you're using. If you would like people in this forum to try to reproduce the problem (which may also help Korg resolve the issue), you'll need to provide more information...starting with which specific patch you're trying to load, and which DAW you're using.

Inexplicably polysix is working for me today in cubase 10.5 .
Its been blacklisted Since v2 was released and still shows as blacklisted .
I started a project to try to get polysix to work . I rescaned the black listed polysix . Tryed to open polysix and it crashed . Crash dump report generated and shut it self down .
I opened The project today and polysix opened with the project , and working . Its also blacklisted still.
If i figure out what ever made it work , or not work , I’ll report back .
Korg support is aware of the blacklisting issue and also seems they are on holiday in japan.
Golden Week .
I am thinking there will be an update to polysix before i can make heads or tails of it.
