The topic is "Bargain Center: discussion, gossip, etc.". I just shared gossip and discussion on my Mac bargain. So no I'll stay here thanks. But just for you I'll note that I don't have anything left to share on the topic.mgw38 wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 8:04 pm I use Macs and PCs equally often and feel compelled to throw either one out of the window on a fairly regular basis. But this is not the topic of this forum thread. Go elsewhere, please.

Sorry, not wanting to get into an Apple vs. PC war. This is basic business/economics. Generally, but not always, Apple computers last well for years and would be perceived as a "luxury" good. You pay more for it because you know you will get your money's worth. But when you soldered on normally user reparable parts and tell them they can't take it to their local Apple store or computer repair person to quickly fix it? You start getting negative reviews and losing your reputation when parts go bad/the drive gets filled. It happens. And was the 2012 soldered? I didn't think it started until 2015.
And I'm typing this on my 10 year old Lenovo i7 with 16 GB RAM that I probably paid $600 for (desktop - I had a monitor) So, yeah, PC's last too, though I have to say, the monitor is starting to do weird things. But it is Dell.

Sorry, shouldn't have used Apple as a discussion point when talking about UAD. It always starts ....mgw38 wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 8:04 pm I use Macs and PCs equally often and feel compelled to throw either one out of the window on a fairly regular basis. Phoenix Reverb is $9.99 again at Plugin Boutique https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... erb-Stereo
and you can get the ERA Voice leveling freebie - https://www.pluginboutique.com/articles/1597
Otherwise, I'm still thinking about the Samplitude Suite....

also, the things that shouldn't be soldered on apple macbooks, historically, is the friggin GPU chip.

I bought it. it seems like a "vocal rider" plugin. Trying to level out the dynamics to make it more consistent. I have vocal rider too, so I'd probably just keep using that. Seems ok though.
Also tip - the installer wants you to install the suite of plugins, but you only have the activation for the leveler. I'd suggest unchecking all the rest of the plugins so you don't clutter up your computer. Unless you want to check out demos of everything..

Not only it works as a leveler, it also tries to remove proximity effect. For example, when you speaking directly into the mic and then turn your head while speaking. It restores spectral balance

Wouldn't mind the leveler.
Anything cheaper than this at plugin boutique? (£3.95)
