Old Tracktion with Windows 10

I'm running Tracktion 4 on Win10 with only one issue: plugins for effects (like EZMix) work fine during playback, but I can't hear them realtime. It still works fine on my old Win7 computer.

Is there a setting somewhere to fix this? Or can I upgrade to Tracktion 7 (I'd rather not get Waveform at this time) ?? Any help much appreciated!

The other thing, it could be related to the sound chip on your W10 comp. If that is the case the T7 won't much help I guess.

Yes, there is a setting you should check. Make sure e-to-e is turned on and that the track is in record mode.

I searched for T7 and every link is now goes to Waveform. I went ahead and tried the Waveform dl, went into my account to see available downloads, and all that's there is Waveform and T4.

I checked the sound chip - it's Realtek HD Audio - should be sufficient? (It's better than what works on my Win7)

Thanks guys. This is much beefier computer than my win7 so if I can get T4 to work, or find a dl for T7, I will be ecstatic. I just can't afford the learning curve for waveform right now... I may consider it at a later date.

It is possible that e-to-e was from before T4. It used to be near the transport buttons. You might find a newer equivalent in input panel options. I don't have a Tracktion copy before 5, so I was going by memory.

There is a lot more in waveform that, for now, you can ignore. They're pretty similar. Similar workflow, just with lots of new features.

If you're coming from T4, though, one issue you would face is that you will be forced to move to 64-bit VST's, and you would likely have been using 32-bit ones. So if you're REALLY attached to your existing VST's and can't give them up or switch to newer ones, then T7 32-bit would be the choice.

Well I must apologize! I have my T7 download available through my account, and so I thought it would be available to all. Indeed it is not. Tracktion seems to have removed it.

Now tracktion have a download server which obviously keeps all the different versions of their software. You could ask the tracktion support to email you a download link to T7 windows version if T7 is what you want.

Or you could get T7 through some your friend who has it in his account.

The sound chip may well be sufficient, but you need to check the win10 driver and sound settings too.
