I am thinking about randomizing the oscillator phase at note start when:
- unison is turned on
- multi-oscillator is used
"Reset" in oscillator would override this command, so no random phase then.
This would be in order to avoid oscillator "beating" when the synth is loaded / reset. I don't plan on activating this via a button, but just have it globally applied under the conditions mentioned above.
Any opinions? Would this be a welcome addition? Or too intrusive?
EDIT: This could mean somewhat weird behaviour for low detune values, as the phase jumps on every note, and every note sounds different

Not at all..? Like in none of the four effects are working? Have you noticed the On/Off buttons underneath the "Delay", "Phaser", etc. buttons?Amram wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 10:45 am i tried the win vst3 ver and the effects section not working here.
If they really aren't working for you then please head to the bug report page and fill in the form with as much detail as you can. Especially the "steps to reproduce"

I think that is the way to go. Sometimes that beating effect can be fun, but that can be achieved by enabling 'reset'. Usually people like to have a free phase osc when playing in unison.TheWaveWarden wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 9:00 am I am thinking about randomizing the oscillator phase at note start when:

Random phase jumps is something i personally like btw.

Maybe you could scale the amount of phase randomization by the amount of detune, so you won't get phase cancellation.TheWaveWarden wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 9:00 am I am thinking about randomizing the oscillator phase at note start [...]

Reverb would be a nice addition but not that indispensable, imho as well. Much prefer built-in delay and chorus in a synth.

Hey can you send me a screenshot of that (and preferably info about OS + host again) to info [at] thewavewarden [dot] com?s28 wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 5:42 pm not read the thread but vst3 gui is weird in win8 ableton live 10 for me. displays in a big black box.

Been playing with Odin and I have to say Its pretty amazing! It is very powerful, stable, easy to use, and a lot of fun!
I particularly like the wide range of oscillator types, easy routing - and the x-y pad is great!
I do have a few comments or feature requests:
1. Patches loading/saving and the .config folder
I am not keen on these being located in 'my documents' folder. Would it be possible to enable user selection of default location for these?
2. No. of voices is quite limiting when playing chords and long release times - voice stealing is plainly audible. Gets to only four notes played simultaneously.
3. Would be nice to be able to pan the oscillators.
4. The Vector oscillator is fantastic! Probably the best one. However - although it allows to choose wavedraw, chipdraw and specdraw waveforms it is not immediately obvious how to edit these for use with the vector oscillator.
I have reported a couple of minor bugs. Apart from these I have had just the one crash, which I can repeat - still working on how best to report it, as I was pushing the limits with the mod matrix and modulating the same parameter on two different lines, so not a common or frequent scenario I am sure, though it did completely crash cubase
Altogether an excellent synth as it stands. Having loads of FM fun at the moment, modulating one oscillator with another and playing with X-Y pad for some really cool sounds

Hi Richard and thanks for your feedback!
I fear the config file will stay where it is for now..
The next update will probably extend the voice count from 12 to 24. I am also looking into ways to improve the transition when stealing notes.
I'm open for suggestions how this could be made more obvious in the GUI
Crashes are a big nono
Thanks for the detailed feedback, much appreciated!
There's not many folders which are guaranteed to be accesible by the user - this is one of them. Of course you can save your patches wherever you desire though. As long as the GUI is openend, the save-path will be stored right now. The next update extends this to when the GUI is closed as well as project save / load. (along with many other improvements regarding preset-convenience).RichardSemper wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 2:52 pm 1. Patches loading/saving and the .config folder

I take it your are using 3-voice unison then?RichardSemper wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 2:52 pm 2. No. of voices is quite limiting when playing chords and long release times - voice stealing is plainly audible. Gets to only four notes played simultaneously.

Probably not going to happen due to the way the internal structure works. I'd have to stereo-ize the "upper half" of the synth then.
I'll provide in-depth tutorials at some pointRichardSemper wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 2:52 pm 4. The Vector oscillator is fantastic! Probably the best one. So you can reproduce it? Send it right away to me thenRichardSemper wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 2:52 pm Apart from these I have had just the one crash, which I can repeat - still working on how best to report it, as I was pushing the limits with the mod matrix and modulating the same parameter on two different lines, so not a common or frequent scenario I am sure, though it did completely crash cubase![]()

There could be a general wave edit button, which brings you to an edit screen. Like in zebra2 for instance

Thanks for the reply.
1. Patches loading/saving and the .config folder
-If unable to have User Preferences settings it might be better in a sub-folder of 'My Documents' e.g. My Documents/Odin2
2. No. of voices
-Understood. That will be great!
3. Oscillator panning.
- Ok got it.
4. The Vector oscillator allows to choose wavedraw, chipdraw and specdraw waveforms it is not immediately obvious how to edit these for use with the vector oscillator.
-I think I found how its done. Use each of the oscillators 1, 2 and 3 to draw the waveforms, then remove them and choose the vector oscillator, and choose wavedraw 1, 2 and 3 for three of the points on the matrix. Can then morph easily between them. The numbers relate to the Osc slot it was drawn in.
I have to say, this is the ONLY aspect of the interface I had any difficulty understanding, even without a manual. Everything else is really elegant and intuitive.
5. I have had just the one crash, which I can repeat.
