Yeah. I've installed Sylenth on several Windows installations throughout the years and it was always without a glitch. I also love Serum's, FabFilter's, uHe's and Valhalla's copy protection approaches. It is there, so their software isn't freeware, but it's simple, so it's pleasure to install. Just copy a key or a file and you're good to go. No hw ID's, no challenge responses, no licensing centrals, no dongles. IMO that's the way to go.

It's kinda weird using the word also here, since all those companies (except maybe Xfer) have a vastly different approach than Lennard, who, at one point, made it so that you can't use Sylenth if you have virtualization turned on.FarleyCZ wrote: Tue May 05, 2020 7:52 am Yeah. Seriously? He gets to say (implicitly) how your computer is going to be set up?!
That sort of thing.

Only that part that was exceedingly unreasonable.EnGee wrote: Tue May 05, 2020 9:19 am But he said it is solved!

Problem arises Jan 2016.
Ghost Dog asks about it Nov 2016.
Lennard replies 2 days later that it has been resolved.
Ghost Dog cites it as an example of bad dev communication in May 2020.
Maybe Lennard should start an apology thread...

-Somewhere around late 2015 / early 2016 (IIRC) Lennard decides to "up the game" with the virtualization request thing;
-Ghost Dog asks about removing that restriction, two or three times during 2016, but gets 1 or 2 "silent treatments" and 1 or 2 "(hell *******) no" answers
-Somewhere in October (ish, IIRC), Lennard realizes that some things aren't really reasonable and decides to back down; also he posts about it online in a sort of vague, unclear fashion;
-Ghost Dog asks for verification from LD and gets it
And it was probably done because it started hurting his sales, not because he realized it was unreasonable, or because he's "a great guy".

When I hear people saying that a dev who asks you to make BIOS adjustments to your computer so you could run his software and doesn't even write about it on his site (yeah, I remembered that little detail later on) - is a nice guy .... I tend to react.mladi wrote: Tue May 05, 2020 10:56 amGhost Dog wrote: It was kinda implied that badmouthing other devs in this thread is a no-noHell, that was fast!Ghost Dog wrote:And it was probably done because it started hurting his sales, not because he realized it was unreasonable, or because he's "a great guy"![]()
(I have nothing against Lennard personally (that would be silly), his synth is good and he's a capable dev (credit where credit is due), but singing praises about his business model and disregarding the idiosyncrasies (to put it very mildly) .... well .... I guess it's appealing for some of you to always appear nice online and never "make waves".)

Now that i have heard from the man himself explain his copy protection and not his employees i feel more comfortable buying from him.
