I am having a very strange issue with MuLab on my HP 15-ef0023dx, where after unplugging my USB amp recording cable, it does some weird stuff. You can check that out here: https://youtu.be/N07o1xbxz8k
Issue happens at ~ 1:30.
Any questions or feedback would be awesome!
Technical stuff:
Laptop runs a Ryzen 5 3500U at 2.1 GHz, 12 GB RAM
More than capable for MuLab
Again, this issue does NOT happen with my desktop, a core i3 Alienware Alpha

I think I've got this figured out. I noticed that when the glitch happens, I don't have any inputs enabled. Somehow, having inputs enabled fixes this problem.

Please note that changing the audio device setup while it is being used is not a supported case. You did a good thing with going to the Audio Setup dialog, then applying the channge, and then clicking OK in the Audio Setup. Because while the Audio Setup dialog is on, MuLab is disconnected from the audio device. So the issue you described indeed is a bit unexpected, but i don't immediately see a reason on MuLab's side. It could be a reason on driver's side. Anyway, from practical pov, i'd say keep that cable connected while MuLab is active. Or use the workaround you found yourself
