please note the first 6 words in the result for KvR...this my friends is why I am so strict on the subject, out of respect for our developers

In fairness to Hink, that post earlier in the thread was suggesting that in certain circumstances piracy is OK, so it's not as if it was the removal of general discussion of piracy.

Sorry Hink for my critics.
but you are the moderator of kvr and responsible for the content. I don't think you should blame your users if you get a negative ranking on google.

AnX's reply is more useful to Markus than yours is.
Yeah, it's incredible that people are still like "oh, you have a problem with the way Markus conducts himself? You're just a TROLL" like they don't have a damn clue what trolling actually is. It's very similar to the "everyone who disagrees with me is Hitler / a fascist / a communist" compulsion that people have when they talk about politics. Otherwise known as ad hominem fallacy.

It's his deflective behavior that continues to convince me not to do business with him or even demo his products. He's representing his business with every word he writes, and when those words are coming from a place of insecurity under scrutiny such that it turns into underhanded comments and insinuations about others, he represents his business poorly.

People do business with people that they know, like, and trust. You lose trust when you allude to other companies in a negative way. That's something a child does.

Q: Do you sue people who use pirated copies?
A: Some other well-known audio-companies monitor the file-sharing in the torrent networks. They send out written-warnings by lawyers and request fines. We never did this and never sued anyone.

a simple yes or no will do, no need to mention what "other companies" do, its not relevant
It sure is more relevant than your reply.
oh the irony

To be fair, don't think Markus made any derogatory comments about other developers in this thread.

The comparison with u-he as perfectly warranted as it was pointing out a small technical difference between the two implementation of the same system.

He did multiple times after that u-he one. Read his random FAQ on the previous page for example. "Other companies do ___, we are not like those nasty companies" when all he had to do was just write yes or no.

The comparison to u-he was not at all warranted — Markus brought up the topic of Google Analytics and tracking cookies out of nowhere to deflect from a different point of criticism by pointing to a "fault" (if you could even call it that) of another company who wasn't even involved in the discussion. Complete red herring / whataboutery.

Post

There really is no reason to mention other companies in a thread where the focus should be apologizing for misstakes (sic) made in the past.

not to drag it out, and also this applies to all devs not just markus...

tell me why you are great
dont tell me why someone else isn't.

hope that explains where i was coming from.

I'm ok with not tolerating posting warez links and such but the piracy question should be perfectly legitimate discussion topic in proper context.
No it's not. End of discussion.

btw full marks to markus for his genuineness in starting this thread. I for one certainly appreciate what he's trying to say :tu:

Exactly, and of course it should be all devs. It doesn't give me confidence in you or your products if you can't sell them solely on their own merits and have to compare to other companies.

Just one comment concerning formality: when I get an ”open letter”, I wish I knew who is it from. ”Markus Krause” doesn’t tell me anything. The company name under the person name is the common way to express that.
Expecting the sender deduction indirectly via the included link, especially when many will not click the link, is not very practical way.
