SPDIF input

I just acquired a synth with a SPDIF output. I connected it to the SPDIF input on my Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 and activated it in Waveform. Then I selected it for a track and armed it for recording. But no signal appears.
Is there something special that needs to be? Does the sample rate have to match?
Unfortunately, I can't test the synth in some other way, as I have nothing else that accepts SPDIF input.

I've used SPDIF inputs with Waveform without issue (to an Audient interface). It's not likely to be Waveform that is at fault. Do you need to set up the synth to output to SPDIF? Are you getting a signal through the Focusrite driver/mixer software?

Thanks for the reply. I found the mixer in the Focusrite Control and no signal shows up there. So it's the synth, for sure.

Is it optical or coax S/PDIF?

If it is coax, make sure you are using an actual S/PDIF cable and not a "standard" analog RCA-type cable.

If it is optical, sometimes those ports can be switched between S/PDIF and ADAT, so make sure the interface is set correctly to accept an S/PDIF input if it has that option (it is generally not automatic).

I found the problem. The synth only supports 44.1 kHz, so I have to select this for the project. Then it works fine. I had this set to 48 kHz before.

Standards, standards. Isn't it fun when we have so many ?
