Ah. Didn't see your new post until after I submitted mine. Yes, that's exactly what my preset does. I'd recommend a bit of look-ahead if MCompressor has it.

I don't think MCompressor has look-ahead. But you know what? If something is super loud, that means that it wasn't gain staged well. Which would mean headroom was already eaten up....
Or, one element of the mix got turned up by accident. In that case, one would want to have an indication of this. Right?
Well, that's one use for a limiter. In this case, a "safety limiter". I'm pretty sure that your preset,
as well as the example I posted would work. So will the in-built limiter within Melda plugins.
If any of these change the character of the sound, the user will be alerted that something is way too loud, or the mix is not gain staged. The problem is indicated in any event. Makes sense?
