Is there anyway to demo some of the Legendary ones now? (Specifically Jupiter 8 and XV 5080) or do I either have to have a subscription or buy them blind?
thanks

@Rasmusv: According to my reading of the conditions for the Core, Pro and Ultimate subs, Jupiter 8 and XV 5080 are only included in the Ultimate version.
Oooh..
thanks for the info.

I’ve been a user of this scheme from the very beginning - I’m so called “ultimate” user, so I have access to everything forever for incredibly cheap fee of $24 AU a month - that is $6 a week that equals to 1 cappuccino a week 😉
I have 2 Loyalty plugins in my bag, but not planning to quit Roland Cloud.
Love it 😀
Good to finally see Roland rep on this forum. Welcome!

RasmusV wrote: Thu May 14, 2020 12:31 pm @zvenx, I signed up on the Pro level and got 30 days free. I assume you can cancel within that time frame, worst case scenario, it's $9.99 for the next month and then cancel if not happy.
Just signed up for the "Pro" subscription too and got instant access to all plugins due to the 30-days free Ultimate trial.

The "Pro" subscription will then include Zenology, Zenology Pro and all expansions besides also the D-50.

For Jupiter-8 and System-8 i already got the lifetime licenses from an earlier long time subscription.

Now got access to tons of presets for Zenology and it will take a long time to explore all of them. Looking forward to Zenology Pro for being able to create my own patches from scratch.

You can sign up for just the $2.99 monthly Core version of the Roland Cloud, and they are giving you a 30 day trial of the Ultimate Version which would allow you to test the entire cloud within that one month period. You get quite a few additional presets and waveforms inside of the full version of the Zenology along with the included expansions, so it's well worth the $2.99 even if it's just for one month. Also you only have to install what you want beyond the initial Roland Cloud Manager installation.

Do those presets stick around after you cancel the subscription?

The 7 Zenology factory banks A-G include 3678 presets and the 10 additional SDZ banks 314 presets so together those include around 4000 presets (which do contain many drum kits).

I just installied 4 of the 15 EXZ expansions which are avaialble for both Zenology and the Fantom hardware and include both presets and additional samples.
The EXZ008 "Vintage Keys" includes 406 presets + 629 waveforms/samples and EXZ0015 "Vintage Synths" includes 125 presets + 222 waveforms/samples. Both expansions include many vintage synth presets and samples.

Overall with the Zenology factory presets and the SDZ + EXZ expansions there are several thousand presets available and also additional samples.

Each of the 15 EXZ expansions costs 19.99$ (Lifetime Key) and each of the 10 SDX preset packs cost 0.99$ (Liifetime Key). The SDX packs contain 31 or 32 presets (314 presets for all together).

In comparison a Pro subscription that includes Zenolgy, Zenology Pro and all expansions costs 9.99$ per month and the first month is free.

Is Zenology one of the products that you can buy a lifetime key for? And are the drum kits emulating the classic drum machines based on samples or dsp?

At the monent Zenology is only available with a subscription or the free Zenology Lite (includes a single factory bank) with a free Roland Cloud account. The Zenology exansions are already available for purchase. 19.99$ for the EXZ expansions and 0.99$ for the SDZ preset packs.

When Zenolgy Pro gets avaialble maybe also a lifetime license will be avaialble.

With the current version of Zenolgy you could not edit the presets (except the few macro parameters) and the FX) so it is not possible to see how the drum sounds or other presets were made. This should be possible when Zenology Pro gets released.

Looks like Arturia have improved their version. But imo, Jupiter 8 and Diva are superior.

I have rebuild the whole factory library from Rolands Jupiter 8 in Arturia, they sound realy close in any behaviour. I also used an oscilloscope to match the raw sounds. I would suggest to make your own comparison.
Especially with Tal-Mod, Tal-Mod can handle a lot of rolands legendary line.
I already rebuild the roland factory presets from sh-2, jx-3p and the sh-101 in tal bassline andthe juno106 in unoLX.
Tal needs far less cpu and has the same sound.

For System 100, System-8 and Promars I have no alternatives.
Audiorealism and D16 have done a great job for the drum and bassline series.

Thanks for the reply. I understand how the EXZ expansions work. But, I am wondering what happens to the FACTORY Zenology banks after the subscription is cancelled.

Basically, I would like the following, but I do not want to do a subscription. Is there a way to do that?
  • Zenology with ALL factory banks
  • Zenology EXZ expansions
I am fine with buying the EXZ expansions, but I would like to make sure the Zenology factory banks stick around after my subscription expires. I avoid all subscriptions like the plague, mainly because I think subscriptions are not a healthy way to manage my personal finances.

The free Zenology Lite only loads the first factory bank and USer presets could not be saved.
Soon Zenology maybe also gets avaiable for a lifetime key, hopefully when the Pro version gets available.

AFAIK the EXZ expansions also work in the current Fantom 6/7/8 hardware workstation. Roland Cloud Manager does not offer to buy them for the Fantom but only for Zenolgy. On the other hand the Library page allows installing it either for Zenology or the Fantom (or both).

Currently the cheapest way to get access to Zenology, Zennolgy Pro and all expansions (including the upcoming model expansions) seems to be the Pro subscription.

The Core subscription at 2.99$ per month allows access to the standard version of Zenology, the Sound packs and the EXZ expansions but does not include the Pro version and upcoming model expansions. It looks like that Core subscription is only for Zenology and does not include any of the other Roland plugins.

Zenology not working in Live 10.1 for me- anyone else? (cant resize, GUI menu issues etc.)
Was OK in Bitwig.

Its pretty much just a preset player at the moment but it will be interesting to see what the pro version brings. Sounds OK, but didn't blow my socks off.

I guess its a bit like the Arturia Laboratory and all the other engines sit behind it?
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Err... So you obviously didn't look at the video then he uses an Oscilloscope too. You can definitely here the difference in the vids.

However, No need for me to make a comparison. I have Diva, and I've had the Arturia collection (which I sold recently here). I don't rate any of their early synths at all, like their version of the Jup 8. I do like their later stuff, however.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

I wonder if they will eventually have any sales for the individual plugins. I’d definitely buy the D-50 if it went down to about $100 at some point.
