You'll probably need some powder for that itch.

That was the year MIDI was affordable enough for me to get rid of all my old gear. It's the year I went from using two modified TB303s as sequencers to using a MIDI sequencer (Yamaha QX7) to play a CZ101, which provided all my backing from that point on (until I replaced it with an ESQ-M in 1988). It was the year I got rid of all my analogue synths, except for my Korg Delta, which I kept until I got a DSS-1 the following year. I ended up giving most of it away, nobody was willing to pay money for any of it. I got a couple of hundred buck for my SH101 and about half what I paid for the Mono/Poly but the rest of the stuff, including the TB303s, were giveaways.e-crooner wrote: Mon May 18, 2020 4:03 pmWhy does it have to be 1985 now? I don't know about that because, as I've said, I've never seen a MM on stage but I've seen plenty of Pro Ones and it was just as limited when it came to MIDI. In fact, Pro One was probably the most ubiquitous synth among Sydney bands in the early 80s, everyone seemed to have one. Some people abandoned the Minimoog because of Midi and patch management, but not because of the sound. Especially the missing patch management is a big problem when playing live.
I'm sure your mum agrees but we don't make music for your mum. After 35 years, to me Thriller still sounds orders better than the video of that noisy music you had linked earlier to demonstrate the squelchy sound of the Korg filter.

Around the same time, I also had the QX7, a CZ101, a DSS-1, an ESQ-M, and a ton of other gear from Korg, Yamaha, Ensoniq, Kawai, Roland, etc.BONES wrote: Tue May 19, 2020 12:55 amThat was the year MIDI was affordable enough for me to get rid of all my old gear. Zebra3 still seems pretty far away
What I'm actually wondering is what comes first, the OB-Xa from Synapse or the Knifonium from Brainworx (due in June). Both extremely interesting fat analog emulations.

The Knifonium seems to be interesting. Will use my voucher perhaps to get it at a reasonable price. We'll see...Niowiad wrote: Tue May 19, 2020 9:05 am![]()

I wouldn't buy this even for 10,00 because of Bones, Wagtunes and AnX

The Mini Moog is arguably even more relevant now than ever with all the kids making EDM songs with the various clones: SE02, SE-1, Boog Model D, Monark, Arturia Mini V, The Legend and various iOS apps. Bones is plain wrong about the Minimoog but will never admit it.chk071 wrote: Sun May 17, 2020 4:33 pm BONES can argue all the way he wants, the Minimoog is still a very relevant synth nowadays, and has been in the past, and will be in the future. No matter if the resonant behavior, or the character of the synth or filter in general is your thing or not.
Personally, I don't know any other synth with such a thick raw sound.

I see. Some cultures have strange ways of writing numbers.Niowiad wrote: Tue May 19, 2020 9:44 amhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal_s ... c_numeralsv1o wrote: Tue May 19, 2020 9:40 amThat should be a decimal point not comma.rasmusklump wrote: Sat May 16, 2020 7:22 pmExactly my thoughts.Cinebient wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 8:01 pm When i read this thread my interest in the synth goes to zero, thank you guys
