Great choice! EchoBoy is certainly a swiss-army delay. It's super versatile, with lots of options to tweak under the hood. And if you feel intimidated by all those options, you can always use the simpler EchoBoy Jr., which is included when you purchase EchoBoy.

If you find that you enjoy messing around with delays (as so many of us do), you should also consider buying ValhallaDelay. The streamlined design and particular tonal qualities of the different delay modes (and the awesome-sounding diffusion) make this plugin really special.

There are also many 'character' delay plugins that focus on emulating specific hardware delays, or doing some specific delay styles really well. Once you become well-acquainted with your workhorse delay(s), you may want to check some of those out.

Nope. Same as swiss army knives not actually replacing every kind of knife out there.
Yes , valhalla delay

Tape: Modeled after vintage tape echoes, with all the features and quirks that were loved in the old hardware.
HiFi: A higher fidelity tape echo, where the ability to precisely sculpt the sound is in your hands. .
BBD: A dark, low fidelity bucket brigade delay model.
Digital: A cleaner, higher bandwidth delay, with the ability to dial in digital dirt.
Ghost: A Valhalla DSP original! Combines the tape model from the HiFi mode with frequency shifting and a unique diffusion algorithm, for sounds that will split your skull in two.
Pitch: A digital delay with added pitch shifting. Perfect for micro-shifting vocals, adding harmonies to synths, creating vast shimmering soundscapes, or shrieking sounds that forever spiral upwards or downwards.
RevPitch: Reverse pitch shifting! Everything that goes in, comes out reversed.
BBDuck (new in 1.5.2): A brighter BBD model, with brightness that tracks the delay time (shorter delays are brighter, while longer delays are darker), and ducking.
Clarity (new in 1.5.2): A clean “digital” delay, with a program dependent limiter, so you can SLAM the drive gain without getting distortion. Deep and wild modulation waveforms, selected by the Era control. Ducking!
DuckTape (new in 1.5.2): A tape delay with built-in companding noise reduction and ducking.
Willing to bet it's nothing like Delay Devil

What's wrong with Sandman Pro's GUI? I like they're GUI's because considering how complex they're plugins can be by how everything can be modulated by everything, i don't see how they could make the GUI much cleaner and simpler to get into. It's also clearly inspired by Eventides H3000 Factory. But in use you can see clearly what's modulating what and by how much at what rate which are things developers are rarely ever able to fit all onto the screen at once.

colour scheme is poorly chosen and the immediate visual impression is of shit everywhere because they use the same design elements for unrelated functions without clear differentiation.

But a very powerful delay and worth persisting with. But they should get a designer to improve the looks, which will improve the workflow by directing the eye/attention to relevant control groupings

For guitar I usually use whatever delay options are provided in the amp sim. However, I like Replika XT on guitar, and sometimes the Oilcan model from Echoes. I also have one preset in MTurboDelay which sounds great for post rock. PsycheDelay from Guitar Rig sometimes sees action too.

Sometimes I like to add Objeq Delay to a drum track. It's like adding additional percussion instruments.

The new Delay 3 or whatever in FL is pretty awesome though.

But I still want Valhalla to kill my delay GAS... And Replika XT... oops...
#youtoo?

I still haven't even figured out how to use one of the banks, let alone frigging EIGHT of them! :scared:

It's a decent delay and works great on some program material. I got it in the Juice Pack and it's nice to have.

I have a feeling there is a demon delay in there somewhere though for someone prepared to take the time...
Oh there is... if you spend long enough fiddling the knobs not knowing what on earth you're doing, some really cool but unrepeatable stuff can emerge. My problem is I have never read the manual and I always stubbornly think why should I have to - shouldn't it be intuitive enough to get to grips with? But alas FL Delay Bank is quite a deep and complex delay.

Tell me about the Juice Pack - do you use it in a different DAW? Do you have Plugindoctor? I would love to see Fruity Parametric EQ 2 in Plugindoc! See what that oversampling is doing - see if it's truncated on output or full 64-bit through.

I still like this...

Quick and easy. Sounds good too.

For many uses any old delay will be fine. For character i really like Echo by PSP. For fun i like MD608 also from the brilliant minds of PSP. Last year a friend offered to -give- me Valhalla Delay but i was in such a dark spot that i couldn’t care less. He was quite shocked when i said not really. Obviously when i started to climb out of that abyss i realized what i had dome. I’m still a bit shaken that i was that far gone. Also obvious i’m hoping to get Valhalla Delay soon.

I use Ableton Delay for the most simple cases, and the amazing Surreal Machines bundle for the sound.

Seem to be on sale now https://www.surrealmachines.com/product ... nes-vstau/

Valhalla is my bread & butter, Echoboy and ColorCopy if I want something a little different
