I vote with my wallet and also tell the dev why I don't buy from him.

Arturia's older synths sound meh compared to their competitors. You sound like the perfect Arturia fanboi. A tad ironic...jamcat wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 10:44 am I’ve seen a lot of fanboys of certain developers talking about how much better their ‘80s synth emulations are, but when I compare demos to the Arturia versions, it’s always the Arturia ones that sound like they actually came from the ‘80s![]()
I like their newer stuff, however.![]()

To be fair, I've been listening to some of the Arturia demos. And I do think this sounds good.
Buuut, I'm going to hold off until Synapse release theirs, and then pick the one I prefer.
I doubt I'd be disappointing with either of them.

Which is what I've been saying which is why I think Synapse will lose sales if they don't release this soon. In fact, if you took a poll, I bet a significant number of people will feel the same way.Vortifex wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 11:00 am Yeah I want to hold off until Synapse releases Obsession. But the Arturia intro price runs out on June 9th and I'm not prepared to pay full price for it. Unless they release a demo and pricing before then I will just buy the Arturia because it sounds fine to me.

I'll not buy either, but eventually get OB-Xa through V Collection 8 or 9 whenever there are enough new additions to compel me to upgrade from V6.

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if, when V Collection comes out, owners of OB-Xa will have an extra discount. After all, owners of FX Collection also got an extra discount on this, compared to owners of V Collection 7, and those get a better price than owners of earlier V Collections, etc.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 11:29 am I'll not buy either, but eventually get OB-Xa through V Collection 8 or 9 whenever there are enough new additions to compel me to upgrade from V6.

Possibly... I guess, it depends on how quickly Synapse release their version. My gut tells me that the Synapse version will probably a be a bit better (hard to judge without hearing a demo).wagtunes wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 11:20 am Which is what I've been saying which is why I think Synapse will lose sales if they don't release this soon. But I'd be happy with the Arturia as well.

I listened to another sound demo of the original yesterday:
I think the stuff at about 5:35 shows well what the Arturia is lacking: Neither the resonance level goes as high, nor is the detail (non linearities) really there. Very curious if the Synapse emu captures that better.
Very nice sound through the entire video. I can hear those properties that I can't hear in Arturia's emulation.

If it is "a bit better", Synapse will certainly loose some potential customers (me for example).Robmobius wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 11:49 am Synapse version will probably a be a bit better (hard to judge without hearing a demo).
