Hi everyone,
Image Line recently released an update for FL Studio, bringing it to version 20.7.
Unforunately, something they did broke the VST2 version of our Uhbik suite of plugins.
Once you load a VST2 instance of Uhbik (either the last release version 1.3.1, or the Uhbik 2.0 alpha version), you might be greeted with either complete silence on that channel, or a shrieking digital noise signal.
We are currently in the process of determining what is causing this.
As this only affects the VST2 version, the easiest workaround for Mac users is to simply use the AU version for the time being.
Please don't use the VST3 version of Uhbik 1.3.1, as this is the old and unstable VST3 implementation, which is generally not recommended.
Alternatively, one can get rid of the problem temporarily by performing one of the following steps:
* switch on the "used fixed size buffers" option in the FL Studio plugin options
* if it is already active, deactivate this option, then reactivate it (and repeat the process one or two times if it doesn't work the first time)
To switch the "use fixed size buffers" option, select the cogwheel on the left side, directly above the plugin GUI. Then switch to the "VST wrapper settings" tab, and in the "Processing" tab you'll find the buffer option.
Note that this is only a temporary fix. As soon as you load another instance of Uhbik, you might have to repeat those steps.

I was wondering about that. I updated the Uhbiks to 2.0 alpha just after FL Studio 20.7 came out. There doesn't seem to be a problem with the VST3 versions of the 2.0 alphas, but I do have a pre-alpha song render that's nothing but Uhbik-D screaming.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Yeah, i had the same indeed. For me it went away after BETA3 of 20.7. Not used the UHBIKS in the latest (new beta) release (20.7.1) as of yet

Using the latest BETA edition (FL Studio 20.7.0.1733) one of my problems went away. The 64-bit VST2 version of the alpha Uhbiks would render un-playable audio. I have tested Uhbik-A and Runciter. They render fine now.
What I do still have a problem with in FL Studio is the VST3 versions of Uhbiks make input audio louder even when they shouldn't affect input audio at all. I made a special "nothing" preset for Uhbik-A and one for Runciter. Testing the 32bit VST 2 and 64bit VST2 versions work as expected. Testing the VST3 version results in louder audio.
What's extra odd is that it rendering a song that includes a VST3 Uhbik also increases the volume of the "bing bong" that FL Studio plays when done rendering. As far as I know, that plays on the Master track.
This volume increase doesn't seem to happen in other DAWs I own (Waveform 11, StudioOne 2).
I can share presets and projects if you like, but it's easy to test. Make a new FL Studio song with just some simple audio (I do kicks on each 1/4) and load Runciter VST3 in the track's insert FX. The initialize preset shouldn't do much but it's noticeably louder. You can even turn Runciter off (toggle at top left) and it will still affect the audio. Turning it off using the toggle in the insert channel puts the volume back to normal.

You mean loading a VST2 in the newest beta of 20.7 does not cause the horrible sounding glitch anymore? That would be great news.pough wrote: Thu May 28, 2020 6:36 pm Using the latest BETA edition (FL Studio 20.7.0.1733) one of my problems went away. I just checked and can confirm the weird issue with the volume and the VST3 version. It seems to add around 18dB as soon as it's loaded.
But at least this isn't another bug caused by the 20.7 update, I could reproduce it with the 20.6 version as well.
Really wondering what Image Line is doing so differently than all the other hosts, to make such things happen.
But thanks for spotting this, I'll add it to our to do list.

Yes, but I have only tested with the 2.0 alpha versions. I tried copying the v1 dlls back into my vst folder, but that didn't go so well. I'm guessing I would have to uninstall the alphas and reinstall the v1s.tasmaniandevil wrote: Fri May 29, 2020 7:58 am You mean loading a VST2 in the newest beta of 20.7 does not cause the horrible sounding glitch anymore? Hehe, I can imagine.pough wrote: Fri May 29, 2020 3:03 pm I tried copying the v1 dlls back into my vst folder, but that didn't go so well.
Yep, you'd have to uninstall and then reinstall the 1.3 version.pough wrote: Fri May 29, 2020 3:03 pm I'm guessing I would have to uninstall the alphas and reinstall the v1s.
The problem with the harsh sound occurred equally in the old and new versions, so if it doesn't glitch out anymore in the new Uhbiks, the old ones should be fine too (hopefully).

Just a note on the full release of 20.7 [build 1714] this issue is still very present. I use Uhbik in basically all my projects and they're all somewhat broken now because of this issue. The temporary fix works very sporadically for me and I just realized that any projects I've saved while applying the temporary fix are now unopenable in 20.6 so I can't roll back my FL to get this working again.
Have you guys been able to get in touch with Image-Line directly? They said on the IL forum report for this issue:
"Please also confirm you have reported this to the developer. We are happy to work with them to solve these issues.
Ask them to contact fvm@image-line.com"

That's the reason why this thread was created.Benjamin923 wrote: Sat May 30, 2020 6:23 pm Just a note on the full release of 20.7 [build 1714] this issue is still very present.
Pough talked about it being fixed in a new beta (build 1733), which came after the 20.7 release (build 1714).
I could not verify this yet, but there is hope that this problem will be gone in the next FL Studio version.

Tested on Mac with the 20.7.1 update.
Indeed, no more glitch noises when loading the Uhbik plugins.
Very glad they were able to fix this.

I have had crashes with Diva and Hive with the latest version. Did they change something?

If you're getting crashes, please contact our support with some more information, so we can try to determine if it's a problem of the plugin or if it's caused by the host.tony10000 wrote: Mon Jun 29, 2020 2:49 pm I have had crashes with Diva and Hive with the latest version.
