...you shoul've assumed the most negative scenario, i.e. you won't get anything extra. And you'd get Scenic now at EUR49.
Yeah, I could have waited of course, but I hate waiting, patience is not a friend of mine :)
I did wait until February this year, before upgrading to Reason Suite 11 though (hoping for a upgrade sale during the time). I don't think I have ever waited for anything that long :)

Yeah, I can see that in your footer ;) :D

S1 says I've 380 VSTs or so and even though I'm sure it's double counting all the variants (VST2, VST3, mono, stereo, etc.), it's not like I'm patient either. However I'm proud of myself resiting the Suite and "only" getting 5 REs in this May Madness:
- MIDI-CV Converter https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... converter/
- Neutron Particle Emitter https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... n/neutron/
- AutoSub https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... n/autosub/
- BeatChop https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... me-slicer/
- PolyStep https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... sequencer/

I figured. But 1) it's about Reason, which isn't quite as popular now and 2) it's about buying REs, which even Reason people do much less nowadays. But it's still a good thread if one's looking for info about good REs to buy :P

It kinda exposes me, does it? :) Removing duplicates (VST2 vs 3) I was down to around 800 though, so I need to change that. I have been lying the whole time :P

Been looking at BeatShop myself, btw, but at the time I trialed it I didn't have time to trial it, so I don't know how competent it is.

Is Scenic just a simplified Grain? They seem to have brought out several REs based on granular playback since Grain which makes me wonder if they are based on it but just with layers.

Yes & no. The synthesis itself is definitely more comprehensive in Grain, but - I feel - Scenic has better overall FX and can be used as an audio FX, because it has audio in. But for me it's form over function, especially the front with this weird looking "clock" controls - it doesn't look like a proper RE at all.

Also, what other granular stuff since Grain? I'm aware of Arkana and Proton/Neutron, but they're much older than Grain.

trying to figure out if there's a way I can use older CV stuff like PSQ or Kron with the midi out in a host like Bitwig.. haven't quite gotten that far yet.

Thought there was a way to cause a CV to MIDI conversion through a Combinator but my memory is fuzzy on that.
Have a look at the (free) cv player tap by Lectric Panda. I use it all that time to turn older devices like psq and korde , into 'players'.

I was just looking at that.. thank you for the suggestion.

Wonder if there's any benefit to getting this as well.. https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... converter/
I see several people recommending it, but I can't really see what it can do that the CV player tap can't already do.

Maybe just MIDI between Player stacks?

Now I see Lectric Panda created a new Player called Kompulsion.. I was already planning on getting Sequences.. ugh, this is getting expensive!

I own that one too. It does poly-cv, and has on off switches for each CV output.
Yeah cv-midi converter will allow you to between stacks or combinators.

Tbh I don't really understand how it all works but there's times where cv-midi converter just gets the job done where the player tap doesn't.

Thanks again for your input.. guess I'll pick that one up as well - sounds like it could be a helpful sort of glue.

MIDI-CV Converter does more than CV Player Tap, especially with polyphonic signal so it might be useful. Regarding Kompulsion it's a combination of Panda's Propulsion (drum sequencer) and Lorde (sequencer / arp) and I believe both are free now or were free few weeks ago? If you care about it being a Player then obviously you should get it, but otherwise those 2 devices + CV Player Tap that was developed precisely for that - will give you the same functionality.
