Thanks AxBC! I will have a try later following your steps. I am using portable Reaper 5.9, so I am thinking whether that is the issue. Also, when I tried to drag-drop the imported melody midi file in RapidComposer into Reaper, it will create a long blank part in the beginning in the Reaper track. However, the harmony and chords will start from the beginning after drag n drop. If you guys didn't encounter the same issue, I guess the portable reaper might be the problem. I am new to all these. Appreciate your help!

I have the impression that version 1.0.8 doesn't work, at least that's what happens in Ableton 10.
can someone confirm

I can't get this to work at all unfortunately (Windows 7).

64 bit VST in Adobe Audition (which doesn't use MIDI but was a test of 64 bit host, as I'm still in 32 bit usually): Immediate crash and exit

32 bit VST in FL Studio: "There was a fatal error loading the plugin's editor"

32 bit VST in Ableton Live: "A serious program error has occurred. This application will shut down after this mesage box is closed. ADefaultWinSystemExceptionHandler::HandleStageOne"

I found some issues with older PCs without proper OpenGL2 support.
I am checking this issue right now.

Hi, I've found another issue with Cubase 10.5:
- drag and drop a midi file (1 bar, 1 track) from Cubase file browser
- click on the dice to make a variation
- Cubase freezes

Dear abner4n,

Does this happen with a specific MIDI file and works for other MIDI files?
Does the MIDI file have many short notes?
Do you have only "Mutate Rhythm" set in the mutation options?
I have tried many MIDI files, but so far I could not reproduce this bug.
It would be a big help if you could send me the MIDI file in e-mail that causes the hanging.

Thank you!

A kind user, Robin (PhotographyForYou on YouTube) created 31 videos about Melodya (which is the same as the Melody Editor in RapidComposer):
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... y3Uc61rSKi

Some of the videos are long and present many details of this tool. I mention this so that you don't expect a one-minute marketing video with stunning visual and sound effects.

Soon more notes will be added to the videos, that will serve as a table of contents.
Thanks, Robin, for your contribution! :tu:

Hi Attila,
- no, it's the same behaviour with all the midis I've tried so far
- yes, I have only "Mutate Rhythm" set in the mutation options
- of course I can send you the midi, just tell me to which email address
Thanks!

Update: after a couple of minutes Cubase unfreezes and everything seems to work fine, but if I try to reimport the same midi, the issue comes back as before.

Hi abner4n,
many thanks for your reply. I would like to check a problematic MIDI file. Please send one to support at musicdevelopments dot com. I suspect that the permutation takes a long time. This may happen for lots of notes but I have not found a file yet that caused such a problem.
Thanks!

Attila I sent you the midi, it's a simple one so probably it freezes Cubase for other reasons.

i have the full version of rapidcomposer , so there is any value or point for me to purchase melodya?

Post

In my opinion, yes.

While RapidComposer is deep and capable of complete composition, it doesn't function as well as a tool to augment a mix of audio recording or loops. More times than not I am looking for MIDI tracks to fill out things in a mix. For that I prefer the simplicity of working inside my DAW with a purposeful MIDI tool, rather than the complexity of having to run RapidComposer as a VSTi.

Melodya can and will be improved for such purpose, but to me it is already better than using RapidComposer in like manner.

Maybe it won't help you?

But for me I like the simplicity of the simpler interface in Melodyna and being able to use separate instances for each virtual instrument I want to use than the hassle of the more complex routing of using a multi-timbral MIDI VSTi.

As I tried to explain, if I was trying to create an entire composition in MIDI, I'd stick with RapidComposer. But if I wanted one or two MIDI tracks to augment something with recorded audio, I prefer Melodya.

I also believe that Attila thinks there will be a wider market for Melodya for folks interested in using it as I do, which may not be something useful to your particular work flow.
