Lots of downvotes it seems. Oh well let them have that pleasure before they cry themselves to sleep over their failed marriage and pointless existence.
Can we get a like button here?

It’s full-on obsession at this point. That’s the disquieting part.Mushy Mushy wrote: Thu May 28, 2020 4:52 pmThis is true. Whatever, I feel a little more free to be genuine.
There’s one member going around shaming everyone who has a criticism of a post, or now in the Cafe, as a terrible person. The self-righteousness of that, man.
Everyone gets a medal for showing up, we’re all ok.

I'm sure that resonates with half of us hence why it was a safe bet.

I wouldn't even blink at it TBH. How shallow does ones life have to be to get enjoyment from that?! In fact the more downvotes you get shows how miserable they continue to be. I would treat it as a points system if I were you, ie. how much does their life suck? Today, quite a lot seemingly.jancivil wrote: Thu May 28, 2020 6:02 pm It’s full-on obsession at this point. It’s not interesting enough to me to even try and picture it really.
The sort of vapid happy talk, “Don’t you listen to the haters! “Don’t let anybody make you feel bad for... “Populate your life with people who see your best,” as a response to everything that isn’t cheerleading is momentarily fascinating sociologically (teh millennial generation, judge-y) I guess.
Forever coddling is infantilizing, ultimately.

I definitely think this behaviour is not OK. It is violating the general rules, and should be acted upon by the moderators.Mushy Mushy wrote: Thu May 28, 2020 4:49 pm Can mods see the names of the likes/dislikes? Surely they can. If not that would be a good start.

well I dont know if Ben can see it but I cannot. I gotta say that somewhere a line has to be drawn, yes targeting is an issue and should be dealt with but asking us to chase down likes and dislikes too might just be asking a bit much
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

It's for good reason sites doesn't have a "dislike" button.Hink wrote: Thu May 28, 2020 7:22 pm well I dont know if Ben can see it but I cannot. For this site to implement this is going 10 years backwards. We don't need that extra "fuel" for disgruntled morons.
And why are the like/dislikes anonymized in the first place?

As stalking is being mentioned here, and I don't know to whom people are referring so it bothers me, (I'm a relative stranger to KVR) I have to confess I have been giving vurt a bunch of up-votes in the fun threads only and only for fun. I gave mushy a bunch of down-votes here too, not out of spite because I have nothing against him but in jest because of the interplay between him and vurt. Outside of the fun threads I believe I downvoted only one or two posts because they contained direct and unnecessary insults towards another human being. I have up-voted two or three of Jan's posts simply because I agree with them but no further. As things seem to be getting taken seriously now I am going to stop using the buttons entirely. It probably wasn't a good idea to introduce them in the first place.

Thats the thing, downvotes definitely have their purpose and can be useful. It's just sad cases sometimes tend to use them to vent their pointless existence.Erisian wrote: Thu May 28, 2020 8:28 pm As stalking is being mentioned here, and I don't know to whom people are referring so it bothers me, (I'm a relative stranger to KVR) I have to confess I have been giving vurt a bunch of up-votes in the fun threads only and only for fun.
