Have i been missing out? (Some ranting on harmonizers and shifters and melda)

Since i sold iZotope music production suite (Because i never used Ozone and Neutron) i've been searching for a good octaver and harmonizer.
There was no octaver that came even close to how clean Nectar sounded. Eventide Quadra/Octavox doesn't do formants, so it sounds chipmunky constantly. The ones that do formants, are lesser quality than Nectar.

Theeeen i tried MHarmonizer... And was impressed. THEN I discovered Spectral crossover. :o and i got the cleanest least intrusive harmonies and octaves i ever heard, sans actually recording them (but sometimes i don't want to record them).
And 1024x oversampling? what the actual f**k :D

still pisses me off, and i said i won't buy Melda due to it. But hey, it works fine here on catalina so i can't complain.
Also, I wish MTextureStyleEditor was available for Mac.

I wish i didn't miss the sale on MVocoder and MUnison. :) till black friday, i guess. They both sound exceptionally good. I tried MVocoder and was struggling until i figured it doesn't have a built in synth. Then i figured I can use an actual synth to control it. :hyper: Although something VocalSynth2 can do, but with MUCH less control.

I do have to say the GUIs are still messy, although the fader/knob combos are better than before.

There's just soooo muuuuuch going on in each of them... it's sometimes a chore to dig through what you need.
There's a big plus to flexibility, but there's also a big minus with all the crap that's in each plugin. I know it can be hidden, and i guess that "devices" are meant to alleviate all that complexity.

And you can even make your own? sheesh.

i've not been fair to melda.

Now you can feel all that ridiculousness when someone "won't be buying from a company for some unrelated directly to the plugins reasons"

if you're referring to my PA rants i absolutely stand by them :P

Don't get me wrong, it still feels icky supporting a developer that holds such a strong resentment towards the ecosystem I don't intend to leave :)

I think you were lucky with your material then. Whenever I tried one of meldas "spectral specials" (may it be unisons, harmonizers, morphs and all that) it creates these high frequency artefacts & distortion very quick and very audible. And that's what I read is soundwise the negative for many users. Neither oversampling nor changing spectral sizes fixes this.

Might be!
But even without the spectral crossover, the MHarmonizer seems to sound very good

And no worries, the point is not to "move" you away from your ecosystem. But we have freedom of speech, right? And who else should tell you about the dark secrets of your ecosystem than a developer ;).
