I'm tempted to buy this as all his verbs to date have been brilliant.

But I'd be interested to know how you use this plug in EDM.

Is it a spacey effect best for ambient or soundtrack

- or can it do something better for big EDM verbs than, say, Valhalla Room or Plate?

Cheers in advance.

Its a reverb with a pitch shifter in the feedback path , use it for whatever suits you

Maybe you could also try valhalla delay , which also has a pitch shifter ( this time in the delay feedback loop ) and also has a reverb .

I've used it mostly on pads to get a, eh, shimmery texture... :) and given the nature of the effect, I find it works better with more ambient-esque material

You maybe watched this already, but if not: it's one of the best overview videos about a plugin I've ever watched:

I believe you can get the most of it by using it for ambience, pads, textural elements.
Take care

Aren't there demos for all Valhalla plugins? Why not download and try it on a few of your tracks?

Very strange question. Sounds like asking how do you use salt? Everywhere or nowehere, alot or just a hint of. You decide. Why do you care ´how ´and don’t you just use it the way you like it by experimenting?

fwiw I'm very selective over what I download.
Too much trash accumulates otherwise.
Plus I value the opinions of others here
Over the years I've had brilliant advice from other KVR members, often better than youtube "call themselves reviewers" and their deadly boring or irrelevant videos.

That's funny cuz I thought the same thing when I heard about Punchy Worm, which happens to be in your signature  And you think Valhalla might be "accumulative trash"?

Just try the damn demo

It's pretty amazing for what it does with the pitch shifting feedback loop, especially considering it's a zero latency plugin.
I've tried my own reverb feedback loops with daw routing, which I eventually got to like even more than VShimmer, using pitch shifters and other effects, but the latency becomes atrocious.
Valhalla Shimmer is a good sounding and effective solution at extremely low CPU and zero latency.

Its reverb tails evolve over time quite wildly but they need to be long enough (which is much longer than standard reverb use) to allow this effect.

For anything else than those long evolving tails, which literally become soundscapes on their own, I'd use standard reverbs which are a lot easier to keep under control.

Most of our tunes have Shimmer in them. Its usually being EQ/Filtered after the signal and sometimes gated/rhythm gated.
Super easy to use, super easy to overdo :D

We use it to give ambience of a massive momentary reverb spiced with Shimmer/+delays

Someone asked why I use Punchy Worm?

Actually it should be renamed Sweet Worm.

The clockwise dialling action sets off a variety of harmonics that enable a really nice sweet spot to be found intuitively.

It's nice, and I use it a lot.

The anti-clockwise dial for punch is hardly worth mentioning if you've already got transient gear.

Hope this helps.

Trash only "accumulates" if you don't throw it away... :dog:

Instruments, effects and general taste is always very personal and the opinion of others should have no influence on your preference.
If a demo is offered, download, install, play and see if it works for you. Nothing bad will happen.
