It was the 80's, they probably stayed up all note doing coke, multi-tracked it a few times and/or added a rack chorus (the record sounds more detuned than the posted one). And in the mix, the verb has a fair amount of pre-delay and is hard panned to the opposite side of the stereo field. I remember reading at some point that they ran it through an amp, but I'm not sure if I'm actually hearing that - though they might've just been blended it. It's not the biggest phattest sound in the world in the first place.zvenx wrote: Fri Jun 05, 2020 6:14 pm Also I think I read he recorded it thru a Fender Amp? Maybe one of the layers? I don't know..

Now that sounds spot on. OB-Xd wins again!Captain wrote: Fri Jun 05, 2020 6:27 pm Sigh... here we go again.
Guys, 50% (my highly scientific number) of ”the Jump sound” is EQ, reverb, and other mixing / production tricks, not the synth sound itself. (Still, very often when I hear someone try to recreate the sound, they don’t even get the basic synth patch right, or play the riff correctly).
Here’s my old recreation, using DiscoDSP OB-XD, but it probably could have been many other synths too, that’s only part of the sound. First half is me, 2nd half is the original song.

And talking about Obsession, I’ll definitely get it when it’s out. I love synths, I love synth sounds, I love old analog synths, and I have no doubt Synapse will do a great job with the plugin.

Yes, it's all about what you do after.

I don't really like it either. But Synapse should care, since it's one of the things you can pretty much guarantee people are going to compare against it. It's a basic sound. It should show itself doing the basics well.

unless anyone has access to the original preset, it's a moot pointPAK wrote: Fri Jun 05, 2020 7:02 pmI don't really like it either.
