How is anything processed in an 'analog' way?
I don't understand.

I wonder what happens if I press this button...

I think all this "analog processing" search is a wrong path to begin with. Analog sound comes mainly from basic oscillator and filters, and cannot be added through a bunch of processors to otherwise digital synths. If you take Loom or Serum, they won't become analog just by adding some tape saturation on top of it.

I think when people search for the "analog sound" they are searching for one of a few features. It might be the warmth, the little imperfections or anything else really.
Take care

You don't need to convince me that analog synths sound great ... I own a dozen of 'em including a SUB37. I just wanted to point out that the SUB37 and Jupiter 8, etc have no onboard effects and sound great with or without fx.matteoluigiodaro wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2020 6:18 pmWell the combination of all these beautiful knobs and everytime I hear a demo or recognise a SUB 37 bassline/lead in a melodic techno track makes me feel shit with my modest 450 plugins xD After 8 months of trying everything out I can't think that vsts are the same as analog, the latter are def more juicy, beefy, with more resonance, accents, sharpness, and thickness. Same goes with Jupiter Prophet OB6 etc., I know you guys and the demos on Youtube tend to demonstrate they're the same but seriously they kill the likes of Repro by such a long shot, you can instantly tell from the top producers and I know they use that analog gear.thecontrolcentre wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2020 5:22 pmWhat built-in effects do you imagine a SUB37 or Jupiter 8 have?matteoluigiodaro wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2020 11:34 am fat poly synths with built-in effects like Moog Mini & Sub 37, Dave Smith Sequential OB6 or Prophet 6, Jupiter 8, Arturia Matrixbrute, ARP Odyssey, etc.).
That said, I learnt my lesson and I'm doing my thing small time, exactly like the person said above.

Often true for me. But Repro is right up there.
If you’re going “analog” (real or emulated), I find the raw oscillators have a lot to do with how the sound ends up. If you start with sterile - which has its place in several types of music - you’re unlikely to end up with analog without a crap ton of analog processing and experience. If you start with something a little interesting, that can go a long way - of course the filter etc then have an impact.
Repro, Diva, The Legend, Obsession all come to mind as top analog emulations.
You can even compare things like Hive, Serum, Spire, Massive X, and Dune3 saw, triangle, and square waves with no effects.
But the you’ve gotta learn them. I still have several software synths I’ve had for over a year I haven’t learned. And effects. I’m getting better at discarding. And spending time learning, but. It yet mastering them. That’ll come with time and effort

Seems like the only option you have, is to start buying those Behringer analogs

Just a little Bit of Philosophy: You should value general Improvements/Progress as more important than specific Operations - and on the other Hand take your Tools more seriously. What I´ve read is way too much for a "small Child", even if you just play around with Presets.
Stereo/3D-Dimension btw. Often nothing else but that.

I believe modern analog techno is the hardest thing to replicate fully with software, it will put anyone's selection of instruments and tools to the test. this style is all about min-maxing every sound, everything has to be on point. you picked something hardcore for your first year of learning. the guys rocking a whole track with little more than the sub37, a delay and a drum machine have 20+ years under their belt.
if outerspace doesn't do it for you, try sknote roundtone, the delay is simple but you may like the sound.
you have too many super-synths, that have good feature sets but weak character which will stick out in techno, get Dagger it will teach you to like the sound of raw synths.
also get endeavorfx contemporary color.

It's really all about the processing at the end of the day. I've still have a few hardware synths and I still process the bejesus out of them to fatten them up. But quality plugins also play a big part.
It's very easy, in today's market to get tricked into thinking I must have everything in order to get 'that sound'. I certainly did... It's a companies marketing spiel to get you to buy their new product over the competitions.
The truth for me anyway is that I use a small suite of plugins all the time. You seem to have some of the best soft synths.
You can't go wrong investing in FabFilter or DMG audio. Plugin Alliance and Slate are good too. But not as good as their marketing would tell you. And I'd think very carefully about using their a sub model.
