A "n-Input-to-Output selector" is like a RatioMulti but without continuous "blending" of the inputs.

A user can connect n inputs to the module.
It's possible to select exactly one of the inputs that will be routed to the output.

Use case 1:
Consider a setup with 4 slightly different oscillators routed into the selector.
A "counter 4" is selecting the inputs in turn.
The patch has ARP switched on.

Use case 2:
It would help to build structures in synths where you have like 3 different modulation sources, think of LFO, S&H, Cross and the user can exactly select one on the GUI of your MSF Device.

To check out what I mean by "modulation sources" please check out my Device WiP here viewtopic.php?p=7795706#p7795706
You can see the "Input selector" in the section titled "OSC 1 Pitch Mod 1".

To give you an intuition for Use Case 1 consider the following patch which uses RatioMulti:

Code: Select all

That sounds good.. is one function of what you are asking for a midi note that on each press could step through each lane (input channel) in sequence or random even and you could do that for fx outputs as well. I haven't tried anything like this in MSF but the instrument / fx selectors in Bitwig I have got great results with so hope it is / will be possible in MSF.

Also, I did try and test your CAT synth but I couldn't get it to work. I dropped it in instruments folder but it wasn't seen by MSF.

Yes, that is a use case I have in mind.

I had the same problem lately. And I can only remember that there was a "Show only System Devices" switch somewhere in the devices panel to the left... But I'm sorry, I cannot remember the exact option or where it was located. Was it the "3rd Party" Category in the "Features" column on top of the Device panel?
