Anyone had success using a Komplete Kontrol keyboard to control Waveform 11.

I bought one of those keyboard mentioned in my title.
I can record fine with it but wondered if anyone had actually managed to control Waveform Pro 11 with one?
I have the Komplete Kontrol a49.
I am clueless and very much a beginner when it comes to MIDI.

I'm trying to make a custom controller and have managed to get play record stop loop and home mapped. They work fine.
However there does not seem to be the ability to map to next track or previous track. Just a specific track. I have scroll wheel that I can use for that. it can also be clicked left right up and down.
I would post what I have so far if I can work out how to upload the file.
it says this

I just use it as a MCU device which is pre mapped.

Im thick. What does your using it as an MCU device?
In the control surfaces panel I have a choice of Mackie Control Universal. I assume you mean that. It didnt work for me.
edit: It does work but I have a bit more control with my version plus I want to see if I can get it working better. If I could see the xml files of the built in control surface templates I might be able to edit mine better. cant find where they are stored.
Thanks

I think there was a problem people were having with another controller under MCU a while back and it turned out that it needed to be configured as a MIDI input and output device for it to work.

I don’t have a NI keyboard atm. I use midi cc and assigned commands in settings - control surface by creating a custom controller.
I guess you need to setup your midi cc in the controller editor first
Side note:
The Kontrol mk2 series was missing mcu support in the at some point. Many people got upset. Maybe the others keyboards are affected too.

It supports MCU now, you have to set it up using the Komplete Kontrol DAW driver as input and output.

I managed to get it working. I had to reboot the computer.aMUSEd wrote: Sun Jun 14, 2020 10:12 am It supports MCU now, you have to set it up using the Komplete Kontrol DAW driver as input and output.
Would like a bit more control than it has though. I will also continue to see how much control I can get with a custom setup though.
Thanks

Komplete Kontrol keyboards use their own message format, not standard midi cc / notes. I have the SDK and it's on my todo list. No idea when I'll get to it.

Actually they use both - there is standard midi (which now includes MCU support although it was a long time coming) and 'deep integration' which only works with DAWS setup to use it and which appears to be based on OSC (going by what Logic and Bitwig are telling me when I open their controller panels).FigBug wrote: Sun Jun 14, 2020 1:48 pm Komplete Kontrol keyboards use their own message format, not standard midi cc / notes. So is there a consensus that Native Instrument products that comes with the Komplete Kontrol S-88 keyboard are fully functional in and compatible with Tracktion Waveform 11 Pro? I have tried to find any information on this combo to a wide range of opinions(some including a local music shop pro) told me NI has issues with Tracktion or doesn't work at all with Waveform 11.
I already committed to Waveform Pro 11(own it) and we are very impressed(I came out of a Cubase background)
But I have also been a long time fan of NI gear, Apps and plugins dating back to the 90's
It would be sweet if I could get a definitive answer before I lay out $1300.
Thx Louie

I just asked tracktion support about plans to support natively komplete kontrol mk2 and they answer that only support mackie control protocol in short, but they are always looking for new ways to improve, so we must check for future updates ...
At this point, if any have Komplete kontrol mk2 integrated with waveform, the most important thing tis to know what features works ok in waveform using MCU mode and what don't work.

I just tried my new KK S61 mk2 with waveform and the lack of mixing console in keyboard using MCU protocol convince me to try another daws with advanced host integration with NI keyboards.
When NI mk2 was released, only ableton was supported, but now the list is very big (ableton, garageband, logic pro, pro tools, bitwig, studio one, cubase and nuendo). Even reaper is supported using reakontrol, that is open source in github.
So I don't understand why tracktion dind't do any effort to integrate NI mk2 in waveform. It's the first time in 10 years that i'm thinkong about change my daw ...
