I didn't see anything on there that talks about stopping windows updates - that looks just like increasing computer privacy by stopping your computer from sending stats to microsoft.
re stopping updates, not recommended if your computer is connected to internet, lots of good arguments for not connecting your audio prod pc to internet. use system restore points, . clone your main drive to external storage, if you're obsessed (easeus, macrium, acronis). find some deepfreeze equivalent (external storage, in the name of all that is holy)
backwards compatibility is MS's best feature, so I wouldn't worry much about updates
microsoft stopped penalties for running win 10 without a license. linustechtips on youtube doesn't bother with licenses, for example.
MS sends tons of licenses to the third world for pennies, tons of which get resold for $10. MS doesn't care where they eventually get installed.
to summarize, win10 pro allows you to connect to business networks, hand off computer maintenance jobs to your co's IT dept (IT dept required), gives you a nice remote control tool (rdp), encryption for data (lots of good alternatives) - not worth it
retail lic: can be moved to new computer
oem: can't move license, stuck to one computer
cheers
