Looking for some step by step help - I know I can use Lag to smooth out the abrupt changes of a square wave LFO (and remove those pops and clicks on things like amplitude modulation), but I can't for the life of me figure out how to apply it.

I thought simply adding LFO as the modulation source to the LAG control in Modifications would do it, but that doesn't work. Can someone walk me through step by step how to do this?

"adding LFO as the modulation source to the LAG control in Modifications"

There's your misunderstanding. When you select "LFO2" for LAG, you aren't modulating anything yet, you're only feeding LFO2 into the LAG processor. You need to use "Lag" as modulation source instead of LFO2 :-)

Example:
1) You are currently modulating e.g. cutoff with a square LFO2
2) Replace that modulation source with "Lag"
3) In the MODIFICATIONS page, select "LFO2" as input for the LAG processor

Basta.

That did the trick! Thanks for walking me through it. (And hey maybe I learned something too)
