Why Diva ringmod sounds great ?

Hello,
when i compare the Diva ringmod with other synths, it sounds the best to my ears:
https://soundcloud.com/user-634048425
In Diva it sounds more like a SAW in spite of the selected SQUARE oscillator and i really like it.
So just for curiosity... would anyone know another synth or VSTi with an identicaly ringmod ?
Is there a way to reproduce it with a modular ?
(I thought it was inspired from the Korg MS-20 but it sounds different)
Thanks you in advance.

It's a really strange thing. I think we were inspired by the original MS20 Mk 1 with the Korg 35 chip. I'm not sure we really ever figured out why it sounded how it does, but we tried our best to come as close as possible. Well, that was 10 years ago, so I guess it's twice as vintage now.

The best ring-modulator? The one in Yamaha CS-80. Although, I guess, it’s not just the actual sound, but the tactile interaction with the very well designed sliders that’s responsible for the signature sounds.
The Yamaha ring-mod is yet to be emulated in a plugin as far as I know. Urs, how about it?

Memorymoon ME-80 has that CS-80 ringmod. I'm not sure how convincing it is, but it can do Beauburg sounds pretty darn well, which to me feels quite correct.

Thanks you for responding !
CS-80 sounds very nice but i forgot to say that i have a preference for duophonic synthetizers.
(i didn't know the ME-80)

I forgot about the ME80! Thanks for the reminder.
When I wrote ‘plugin’ I was thinking of an effect plugin. I’ve never looked to see if there is something similar. Most ring-mod effects have their own take on how it should work...

I'm interested in Eurorack format, VCV, Reaktor, Voltage Modular ...I found that MF-102 Ring Modulator could have the MS-20 sound in this topic =)

Could it become a Uhbik? (or part of one)Urs wrote: Sat Jun 13, 2020 7:18 pm It's a really strange thing. I think we were inspired by the original MS20 Mk 1 with the Korg 35 chip. Yeah, I know it's *supposed* to be XOR, but there was stuff going on beyond that. The resulting waveform didn't look much like XORred square waves at allfruklushnube wrote: Mon Jun 15, 2020 5:33 pm I'm interested in Eurorack format, VCV, Reaktor, Voltage Modular ...

(I haven't tried the Moog RingMod, can't say much about it)

I guess we would have to add some sort of oscillator then? (Not raising hopes here, just asking)aMUSEd wrote: Mon Jun 15, 2020 5:48 pmCould it become a Uhbik? Uhbiks will already have an external side chain signal for modulation purpose, I don't think we can additionally expand on extra audio inputs.
