I downloaded v14.07 at 2:30 p.m. German time. That should be after your fix - it still crashes Cubase here.
Ok I see you did. I think it may have been after that time, it was 1:41 in UK I believe. Isn't that 2:41 in Germany?

Anyway, no harm in trying a fresh download for the sake of 2 minutes just to be sure. :)
Ah, ok - then I may have missed it by a couple of minutes. I seem to have misread the time stamp. Downloaded again and going to try now. Will report. :)

Time stamp is a little confusing tbh. I am in Middle East btw. :-) As mentioned earlier it would have been nice to have a version named 14.07.01 or something but anyway it is working fine here.

If you find it is still crashing Cubase, please mention an exact plugin and I will double check here. :-)

Interesting. I think back then I also had a NVIDIA. Now I have an AMD graphics card. Maybe it has something to do with this after all.

Maybe the other, who also have this issue, could post their graphics cards?

FWIW, 14.07 plugins works fine on Linux Xubuntu 18.04 LTS with Bitwig 2.4.3 using the FModernLight style. Works just as is, like all previous Melda plugins.

Exception is made of course of MSuperLooper which I haven't specifically tested yet.

Cheers.

Which bridging system (don't know the correct term) are you using? I've tried it with airwave on Kubuntu 20.04 in REAPER and the GUI is clunky. Especially resizing windows is annoying. Whenever the size of a Melda plugin changes, I have to close and open its window to redraw it properly.

I've tried Carla and LinVST, but couldn't get them to work. If they work better for you, I will give them another try.

I'd appreciate a reply very much :)

Background note: I have bought all Melda plugins. When I sit at the computer to make music it is to make music. A little bit of adjustment is OK, but it has to run good. For making music and for investing money.

This said, I use wine-4.5 (Staging) with linvst sources from February 2019. I did not upgrade the system since then. If it works ...

The linvst author, after a comment I made, added/modified code to linvst so that Melda plugins can run. I used that source at that time and it's still the same today. Months later he mentioned that some changes had to be made and that part of the code was modified. I never used other linvst versions than the one from February 2019. All Melda plugins are working nice, except for the SuperLooper which I haven't tried again since the last updates.

I do not use Carla. I only use wine and linvst. With both Bitwig 2.4.3 and Mixbus32C 6.x. I only run 64-bit Windows plugins. This works with plugins from Rob Papen, IK Multimedia, Voxengo (all), Sugar Bytes (all), and others.

I'm not sure if you can retrieve code from a specific time at github. If not, let me know and I can upload the February 2019 sources at dropbox.

Cheers.

That's what I'm hoping for too :)

My wine version is 5.0.1, so I hope this isn't the issue.

I've managed to get the current linvst to work, and the GUI is already much smoother. That's great.

Unfortunately, the resizing problem persists.
If you could upload your version, that would be awesome.

Thank you so much for your help so far. I'd really love to stay with Linux.

Ah, I see. I'm afraid to say that this is a case of a few workaround mouse clicks in order to benefit from all the Melda goodness. It does not happens so often after all within a work session, after some time getting used to it. That's why I forget about it: got used to it. In other words, there's no cure for that at this point.

The basic idea is that when the plugin needs resizing, is to do the resizing by dragging the right low corner, then one mouse click to minimize and one mouse click to bring it back to its expected size. As such, I always start major plugins (MSoundFactory, MDrummer, many turbo) at a large size, which is remembered for next uses. One typical case is when swithching to Edit with the multi-band plugins. Resize by dragging (don't need to be precise, I always add more size) the two clicks.

So regarding this, the version I use will not provide any improvement.

Okay, then I'll stick with the one I have and adjust my workflow accordingly. Thank you for your help! :)

As a side note, the description is with Bitwig 2.4.3. With Mixbus32C the handling of plugins' GUI is different and makes it more awkward to do as Mixbus32C does not 'close' the GUI when minimized like Bitwig does thus not offering a chance for the plugin to redraw itself when brought back. In other words with Mixbus32C one has to resize the Melda plugin, then terminate Mixbus32C, and restart it.

Which DAW are you using (I should have asked this first time around  ) ?

I'm using REAPER. It has a button in the plugin window that let's you disable the UI for a plugin and showssliders instead. I can click that twice and the UI comes back resized, so it's not that bad.

The only really annoying thing is that MSF resizes when you switch from the easy screen to the edit mode. So I guess I'm not going to make devices anytime soon and stick with global presets.

A native version would be so wonderful  .

I was going to use Windows for my new PC, but the installation got destroyed after I set everything up by a faulty driver. So I figured I might as well try Kubuntu, and I'm not going back.

I used it four years ago, and it was pretty cool, but when I went notebook only, I bought a MacBook, and it's fine. However, I'm not going to pay the prices for desktop macs, so I had to choose between Windows and Linux. Since most music software isn't available for Linux, I thought I'd try Windows, but I wasn't really happy with it. And when the installation got destroyed, I took it as a sign from the universe. :D

Kubuntu has gotten so amazing, that I'll never go back to Windows. I'd rather give up making music :-? Okay not really, but I was going to buy the MCompleteBundle once I have the money. Now, I'm not so sure.

Ardour has become quite usable for MIDI and unlike REAPER, it supports lv2 plugins, so I could use the Calf Studio Plugins.

There are so many options, and none of them are perfect :help: Melda vst for Linux would be perfect...

I haven't explored MSF much, yet, I don't know what's involved in creating devices, GUI-wise. If there's a constant need of switching GUI sizes while creating devices, yes, it can be awkward. For the rest of plugins, so far, I do not find that a 'constant' resizing is needed. I use Melda plugins mostly in Bitwig. I use Bitwig for creation, then export tracks to Mixbus32C for mixing/mastering. In Mixbus32C I tend to limit the use of plugins. A little goes a long way. I use Voxengo plugins at the mixing/nastering stage quite often, along with u-he's Linux-native Presswerk and Satin which seems to always find their way into a mix :)

I use Linux because I work with Linux. I wouldn't consider using Windows. I find I have everything to make music. The workflow has some small quirks here and there, like the resizing of the Melda GUI, although nothing I find that distracts the attention from the creative process. I do not feel at all the "if I would have this, or if I would have that .." thing. I used to, not anymore :)
It's a constant learning.

Cheers.
