Decent funbox. Surely some knobs and analog filters were scrapped from Quantum, but we're getting extra CV connectivity.
As someone pointed out, no audio out through USB :/

The price is still among the high ones, though :/ About as expensive as Kyra, and more than some high-end produts that already felt over-the-top for me (like MPC X).
Interesting that they stopped with the James Bond movie references in the synth's name.

Looks stunning. How about the touch screen? Have anyone used the Quantum using the touch screen and if so what are your feeling about it? I'm one of those poor sods who seem to have bad conductivity with my fingers so I'm always struggling with touch screens. I have least problems with my iPad but I used to own the Akai MPC X and that screen frustrated me to no end.

Looks like a dream come true for those of us who think the Quantum is too costly.

From what I've read, the Quantum's analog filters are mono, and not particularly outstanding, but who cares? If you want analog buy an analog synth. This appears to be basically a Quantum with digital filters.

I think some have pointed out that the knobs look a bit cramped, so it will be interesting to see people's objective opinions on long term use.

Anyway, I'm excited about it.

2.000 € is still quite costly for me...

what if you compare it to 1,000,000?

Looking forward to some show-and-tell videos.

As much as I like this gear, I have no idea what would I use it for if I got one

1,000,000 It's Parawave Rapid synth and Xfer Serum

It's the same as the Quantum, so you can watch some Quantum videos to get a sense of it

Does omnisphere have kernels that do genuine fm ( phase modulation )
I don't think so
No, of course not, but you get what I’m saying. If you’re worth your weight in salt, you’ve got a VST folder full of goodies that on their own may not do everything (but may do other things) that the Iridium does, but let’s face it, who makes a sound on their Quantum that uses every synthesis engine at one time? I’ve not used a Quantum’s FM, but can it be more feature filled than Blue 2 or FM8?

When I thought the cost would be about $2000 USD, I thought it would be worth having, but if rumors of it being $3000 are true, I think that’s not worth it to me. I’d personally rather have something like the Super 6 and continue doing digital in plugins. That statement might go out the window if I hear demos that blow me away, but their opening salvo left me wanting more. I’m cautiously optimistic, though, because Waldorf is known for screwing up marketing.

Can Blue2 or FM8 use a wavetable as an FM operator?

Post

Well, the Grid can... But that is not the point of a hardware synth anyway. Its about direct physical access and inspiration...
If you watch the performance on a Super 6 at Schneiders Laden, you get the idea... Now lets see if we get similar inspiration with this beast...

Omnisphere also doesn't allow user multi-samples. Also, can Omni import Serum wavetables? Then there is 6 operator FM. The Waldorf Quantum can re-sample itself, or sample incoming audio. Omni doesn't do that either
I didn’t realize it had the re-sampling bit. Man, iridium is quickly shaping up to be my ultimate dream synth! Definitely getting one in the next month or two if any are in stock.

It’ll probably be the one and only digital synth I’ll ever want or need. The only thing I’ll be after afterwards is a monster analog — maybe a Moog One desktop module for same price as Iridium ;) (Likely story)
Will likely have to settle with a DSI/Sequential. (Love my DM12 but I want at least one VCO synth)
