What's up guys, I kind of just wanted to create this thread to kind of let you guys know what my plans are for this new beautiful instrument melda created. I wanted to be very powerful and using all possible synthesis and sampler available to me. I will update this thread as often as possible. Mostly I will most surely be needing guidance from most for smarter people then me on how to build these instruments, and also I'm very open to any suggestions from like what you guys would like to see.

This is a huge idea that I want to kind of do and share with you guys. I want to do something radical with m sound factory. Here is the idea.

I want to create a platform that is like a wave table however the length of it will be significantly larger. its purpose is to sample the entire range of a knob on a hardware instrument. For instance, I want to sample every single possible value from 1 to 1:28 from the Nord lead virus formant synthesis knob and then attach all of those samples to a knob in the instrument. thereby, clearly, capturing the entire perimeter of that hardware instrument, because it seems all of these very smart software developers have not yet developed something similar to the foreman granular synthesis method that the virus implemented 10 years ago, so I'm just going to sample the heck out of that thing and capture it. So as I am tweaking the knob, every tweak, is shifting through a sample, makes sense. All you geniuses, help me create what I want to do here. Buys is probably a really brilliant idea, steal for me whatever I don't care, but let it be known that I thought it was first, if this is not an original idea, please let me know and laugh at me For pretending to be a brilliant person.

So, very clearly, as each knob parameter is tweaked, usually the knobs are like 1 to 1:28 right, so each one of those parameter values is a sample. The key is it needs to have a very smooth blending between those samples so that it is flawlessly smooth and Crossfade between them. Thanks guys

I want to further expand on this idea, so ideally, I want to achieve a one by identical sound movement. I tweaked a knob on a hardware instrument, and I tweaked a knob and m sound factory and hear the same result or nearly the same one same thing. So if I have a saw wave table at an initial position and we're starting from init scratch, I sample the knob from 0 to format granular synthesis method all the way to 128 and sample those in wav format. Now I have all these samples. I need to attach all those samples to a knob, and mirror each parameter value increase 2 it's appropriate wave sample. Does that make sense. Of course, this approach can be expanded indefinitely, and there could even be different layers of shifting between samples when different parameter values are being tweaked simultaneously, however I'm sure that will require some kind of algorithm that I could really need some help with, so, as I am tweaking the format granular synthesis, and adjusting its width, it will take out and use the appropriate samples,. now I do not need to sample every single parameter only the ones that are not easily replicable in software, make sense? this could potentially be a really big idea, am I alone in this assumption or is this method already available? If so, please elucidate for me 🤗♥️👌

Sorry, but your method is impractical, probably can't be implemented in MSF and will result in an instrument many gigabytes in size for each preset.

First of all: your thread title seems a bit click-baity to me, what a bummer.

To your "idea": it's basically sampling a synth in very small sample steps for the use in a wavetable modul, right? I would ask in the first place: what kind of audio advantage could it bring? To me, if I understand it correctly, it reads like a very non-economical way, which will end up in to many samples, while bringing no better "audio-quality" (or "audio accuracy") than sampling way bigger steps.

Regarding "only solutions please": VariKusBrainZ wrote some kind of solution: saving time for you by rethinking the concpet at its origin, maybe. Don't get me wrong: maybe I am (or other people as well) just not getting the idea 100% yet and there might be something usable about it. I am just writing about economic: time is a resource and I think you should spend it wisely to come up with something usable in the end. Means: if you e.g. can fake a synth with only 50% as much samples, while it still sounds 70% accurate in contrast to 100% samples with 100% accurate sounding, you should consider if the 30% sound difference is worth the doubled time amount you had to work on. Just as a basic idea: often times less is more. .... regardless of the main question, which comes to my mind always: why cloning something, what already exists and not coming up with something totally new, due to the new technical possibilities? ;-)

Good luck, though. :)

The idea limits you to only 1 function at a time. If you sample a synth at 128 levels of unison and then 128 samples of filter cutoff. You can only play 1 of these wavetables at a time. Therefore you can not have unison and filtering at the same time.

Guys, you are going and assuming quite a few things here. Obviously one would absolutely need to be economical, obviously only a f****** moron would try to sample f****** step-by-step in unison oh, there is nothing special about the virus unison, I clearly said I will only sample the things that are not easily replicable and software, that limit the possible parameters that I want to sample in this crazy manner. However unlike you who may not see that immediate potential to this, that is fine for me I'm crazy I love what I hear and some things and I want to get that no matter what the f****** cost, and if nobody see the value in potential in it to it that's fine, I want what I want, and this is for me, and I'm happy to share it with you once I go to the links and share this thingthis thing, thank you give me solutions, and don't and impede my iidea .please

As I said, I'm not here to try to be dissuaded, I'm here to try to learn how to do an implement this idea that have into the physical reality.I don't want to explain further, just kind of ask me questions about what is may be unclear, and let's proceed on the path that I'm serious about the saying and I want to do it and I am crazy and that is okay. Help me solve and implement my idea please and leave all the doubts and keep them to yourselves cuz I don't want to hear it.

I am out here traveling alone by myself and organ and the West coast and is not easy for me to type, so I'm doing this voice thing, I'm doing have access to a computer right now, so bear with me while this is quite a little sloppy Spirit carry on

Like honestly, I don't have a lot of time to spend here debating trivial nonsense, so I kind of need to focus my time on responding clearly too kind of beneficial and hopeful kind of things here and suggestions, so I promise you, I am no longer going to reply to anything that is not along the path of productivity towards implementing this idea, thank you very much for your understanding and your patience,

In order to find solutions you often need to understand obstacles to learn how to overcome them. I was willing to help, but you are being quite rude, so now, I won't.

Sorry man, truly, I've been having like a pretty rough time out here man am I kind of broke my finger the other day, and I'm getting like a lot of like uncompassionate folks out here.

Having said that, I just want to put for that, I am kind of very sincere, on this idea oh, so let's proceed on that path. Of course, you bring up a very valid point, I would need to sample every parameter offset by an additional parameter, however perhaps there's some smarter more intelligent way to do this Democrats not sampling all 128, but doing what could best sound best with like the least right. I'll be kind of satisfied we just kind of doing one now though at a time. I don't want a full replica of the entire sent that I'm trying to minute care, my goal is to mimic certain knobs only, and these knobs I'm going to mimic are the ones that are not replicable by software, otherwise what's the point. I think there are perhaps four parameters, possibly two, and I don't need to sample every way table, maybe the very basic sign, saw, square, or whatever sounds good to me. Sorry again, my friend, if you're still willing to help anyone, yay, or anyone else, hopefully he was like a knowledge and know-how, I'll love to hear from you

I have read your description of what you'd like to achieve several times and I'm still not clear on what it is you're after.

But one possibility is that you'd like to implement some kind of multi-dimensional wave table, which is just not possible in MSF. You could approximate that with multiple wavetable oscillators for the second dimension and cross fade between them for a two-dimensional solution, but the number of WT oscillators would need to be kept reasonably small.

Actually, the notion of two or three-dimensional WTs in pretty intriguing - nobody's ever done anything like it as far as I know. A 16x16 WT with an independent index for each dimension suggests all kinds of tantalizing possibilities. The waveform would be a four-way morph in this case rather than a two-wave morph in a conventional (linear) WT. Even a 16x16x16 WT might not be too out of the question resource-wise (eight-way morph).

Am I crazy or does this idea have some potential?

Yes, I think so. Maybe an Incredible amount of potential. Can someone reach out to melda, maybe we should keep these idea between us for now?

A million dollar idea potential in my mind, but I'm quite crazy to begin with. Image capturing hardware 1 to 1!!

Regarding sampling hardware 1 to 1. No. Just impractical like jmg8 described. Not mentioning the interaction of certain parameters. The reason why it's way easier to just build the circuits resulting in those properties.
Regarding multidimensional wavetables. Who knows, but there are already synths having 3D wavetables (standard wavetable with at least 1 additional dimension like Icarus). And knowing you already can blend 2 or more wavetable oscs, the magic is gone.
