Person in the other thread said it was a "DVD clamshell" with a card inside it with the code. In context they seemed to be implying there was no actual CD/DVD inside, just the code, which is common for "physical copies" of boxed software.Uncle E wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2020 3:06 am Angus from FXpansion stated that they have never made DVD versions of strobe 2. This means that musicians friend made these DVDs themselves. There is certainly the potential for mistakes to happen in that case.
I have seen cases where software companies have sold us codes and then sold those same codes to other dealers. I do not remember having that kind of issue ever happen with FXpansion.

Ya, I got no DVD. It was just there was a DVD case with a card with a serial number that I had to register after downloading Strobe2 from FXpansion. Is still weird, but it worked for me (just having technical problems with Strobe2--posted in the Strobe2 thread).
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

By DVD, he means DVD clamshell.telecode wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2020 3:53 amthat's very strange. also sounds unethical, no? how can you just burn an "official" looking copy of another company's product? never heard of that except in the black market business.Uncle E wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2020 3:06 am Angus from FXpansion stated that they have never made DVD versions of strobe 2. The only thing they did was print the S/N onto a card to package in a DVD clamshell.
You still have to go to the website to download and register.
Nothing is different with how they obtain the S/N than the products you purchase on any website, but this way the physical stores have a product to sell (physically) in their shops. Nothing unethical, but just occasionally confusing at times between developer/vendor/customer for when things go wrong.

Anyone in the US want to help me out and order a copy of Strobe from Guitarcenter for me?
I live in Europe and can't order it sadly. It'd be much much appreciated!
Seeing as it's just a case with a code inside....

one day sales like the Klevgrand deal mentioned in the no chat thread really grind my gears. If you are going to run a sale then run it for a month at least to give people paid monthly a chance to budget for purchases.

And with their no license transfers allowed policy one isnt likely going to take the risk lucky buying either..WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2020 9:42 am one day sales like the Klevgrand deal mentioned in the no chat thread really grind my gears. Wasn’t aware of that though it’s not a dealbreaker for me if I like a product enough and I really like Stark FWIW, but I’m not buying anything more from them outside of sales when I know they will drop to 50 percent or more off at times during the year.Insanelysane wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2020 9:48 amAnd with their no license transfers allowed policy one isnt likely going to take the risk lucky buying either..WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2020 9:42 am one day sales like the Klevgrand deal mentioned in the no chat thread really grind my gears. Is that something they state on the FAQ that I missed or do you have written permission? I didnt realise that was a possibility as I think I own their REAMP before policy changed, I don't use it in my current chain so would be good to sell it to someone who will use itfairlyclose wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2020 9:56 amI can sel r0verb as i bought it before the policy change. I saw someone selling a Klevgrand item here a while back and they said they had permission when asked about it so I emailed Klevgrand and got permission for everything I had bought before the change. I suggest emailing themInsanelysane wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2020 12:30 pmIs that something they state on the FAQ that I missed or do you have written permission? Trust that no graphics is a good thing.
We all get excited about some great deals, but if we go back to how it used to be with graphics for everything, you'll have to scroll through several pages to find recent deals, plus load times for every damn thing.

The Syntronix crazy deal seems to come to ~$48 CDN with Jam points. Can anyone confirm, wasn't the Syntronix Deluxe on sale not that long ago. Its the $135 the sale price, or was it 50% off that?

That's a great deal on Syntronik.
The only thing I hate about Syntronik and SampleTank is their UI. Even important things like the volume knob are not presented on the front, at least on Syntronik. And navigation is irritating to say the least. I could go on and on, but I have better things to do.

Plugin Boutique are giving away Ozone Elements again.
Wish someone would give away RX7 Elements. Never seems to come up...
Or I keep missing it?
