Now listening to 'Can You Chill to This': piano, strings, and especially the sax sound very good. Not sure if you used a synth or Modo Bass on this? I might have used a less resonant bass sound, but it's OK as is. Though the synthy bass fits with the drum beats. Yes, you are correct, I liked 'This Folder is Empty' better overall. Though this is still a nice song. :)
This is a very different kind of tune for me. Kind of a jazzy hip hop. Or at least my version of it. It's way outside my comfort zone (trying to stretch myself) so it won't be everybody's cup of tea. And yeah, the bass is a lot more resonant than I'm used to but I wanted to experiment. The whole song was a bit of an experiment for me. Some work out better than others.

Thanks again for the listen and feedback.

7th track from my upcoming CD "Outtakes II"

This one is typical vintage me. Really enjoyed doing it. Mixing was a bit tricky with all that's going on but I think I did a passable job.

Next song, which I'm starting today, is going to be called "Sock Puppet" which will be dedicated to this forum, for obvious reasons.

Something's Rotten In Denmark

Something's rotten in Denmark
And it's not the fish
Even though you wish
You can't hide in the dark
Something's rotten in Denmark

Yeah you tried to deceive me
You tried every trick in the book
You tried with your lying tongue
And you tried with your sexy look

But there's just no escape
From the bed that you had made

Repeat Chorus

Oh you told me a story
You thought I was easy to fool
You spun your web of lies
Guess you really thought you're cool

But you can't escape the truth
And I'm gonna get the proof

Repeat Chorus

Time for you to face the music
Love or death I'll let you choose it

Repeat Chorus

8th track from my upcoming CD "Outtakes II"

If you listen to my last 2 tracks, you'll find that they are worlds apart.

Anyway, this is "Sock Puppet" and I dedicate it to all the KVR sock puppets who are still alive to tell about it.

Sock Puppet

What gives you the right
To push me around like you do
Just who are you trying to kid
Just who the hell are you

I don't wanna be your sock puppet
Don't put me on
Don't put me on
Don't put me on

I may have a hole in my bottom
Large enough for your hand to fit inside
But that doesn't mean you can use me
To give you a joy ride

Repeat Chorus

Put me on
Put me on
Put me on
Don't put me on

Instrumental Break

Repeat Chorus

Sock Puppet gives me very heavy Devo, The Cars (that sync bass), Gary Numan, Dead Can Dance, but most of all, Mr. Roboto vibes, the lyrics are very silly but deal with serious stuff we (including me) have all faced.
Somethings Rotten gives me Supertramp and Beatles vibes.
Your voice gives me big Tom Jones vibes for some reason.
Many paid and free VSTs as well as Kontakt libraries. As well as HW synths/drum machine and acoustic instruments.

Thanks for the listen and the feedback. Tom Jones, eh? Wow, never saw that coming. Gonna have to listen to these again to see if I can hear the influences you've identified. Of course I've never heard of "Dead Can Dance" so I'm gonna have to listen to some of their stuff.

Thanks again.

Sock Puppet
Loved it. Its got a rhythmic and melodic hook that could be quite addictive. This could be a winner if a producer and a singer got heir hands on it.
The rythmic hook reminded me of DaDaDa by Trio. Another one to look up if you don't know it. : )

Sorry, but I gotta laugh. The song was done as a joke. At least I thought it was.

I actually thought Denmark was the way better of the two tunes. Goes to show you, you just never know.

Reminds me of the "Knock Three Times" story. They presented the song to Tony Orlando and he said, "Knock three times? What the hell is that? This song is stupid. Bang on the pipe? Are you kidding me?"

Went on to be a monster hit but he didn't want to do it.

I know the story because I was good friends with the agent who brought Levine and Brown together. They were the ones who wrote this and many other songs for Dawn, the Partridge Family and so many others.

Oh, I didn't see Denmark. Thats good too. You've got more instrumentation, arragement going on there.
The Sock Puppet lyrics are a bit jokey, but there is a cool melodic hook and its got a rhythmic hook as well. Did you look that Trio song up? Thats similar to yours.
By the way, I'm uploading a song tomorrow, be on the look out for that ; )

About to look up that Trio song.

Puppet had to have some kind of a hook or it would have been totally ridiculous. Maybe somebody will hear it and want to do something with it. Though I'm not going to hold my breath waiting.

This song?

OMG, that is absolute genius. The whole thing. The expressions on their faces, the outfits, the, whatever that is on the guy's head. And yes, there are definite similarities. I assure you, I've never heard this song before but I guarantee you I will never forget it.

Thats the one. Its a classic, it may not have hit the U.S., but it was popular in the UK.

It hit 33 on the US Dance Charts.

I'll look out for your song tomorrow. Can't wait.

Hey Wags, I enjoyed "Sock Puppet". Favorites elements - 80's synth pad and the filter sweep/vocode on the sync synth. Those elements against the perky little melody at the end are gold. Nice restrained build through the song as well. Thanks.

Thanks for the listen and the feedback. Glad you liked my silly song. Maybe I should do more stuff like it. Let me know if there's anything of yours you want me to check out.

Yeah I also thought of Da Da Da, I had silly and serious lyrics in the Lyrics Needing Songs Thread if you were interested.
