I'm not certain but I think it will be an upgrade for Hollywood Orchestra.Harry_HH wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2020 10:41 amSounds interesting. Will this new tech replace all/most previous libraries?
I definitely agree that you should have access to mixing and harmonizing the voices separately. I'm certain they have the individual samples available and can add this feature if they get requests for it. They can probably even add a feature that automatically assigns the voices to different harmonies when chords are played (my understanding about the new Hollywood Orchestra technology is that it does things like that). One challenge is the word builder will need to control the three layers simultaneously, I don't know if EastWest is currently able to do that.Btw - concerning the Hollywood Backup Singers, for me was letdown, that - as beautifully its recorded and vocals are great - you can’t separate the voices.
I understand that EW has saved space by recording all 3 singers to the same samples, but at least some basic vocals (uuhs and aahs) they should have recorded as separate samples per vocalist.

Yeah that was honestly one of the things I was dissapointed with but it will still fit well in some of my work. I plan on combining it with various other vocaloids and vocal samplers like EMVoice and Realitone Blue. Hollywood backup only came out this year so I really do hope they do what Uncle E mentions. They definitely recorded with 3 closeup mics obviously on different tracks. I would be happy with just the 3 close mics soloable even if you can hear the other vocalists. My worry would be that they're intentionally holding back from this because they may plan on making some "hollywood" wordbuilder soloists.Uncle E wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2020 6:36 pmI'm not certain but I think it will be an upgrade for Hollywood Orchestra.Harry_HH wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2020 10:41 amSounds interesting. One other thing that I wonder, maybe they tried to seperate the 3 mics but decided it wasn't up to "hollywood" standards or some asinine crap like that.
That would also be a pretty good improvement to Eastwests Orchestral stuff. I've noticed the number one thing I hear about EW is a lot of amateurs saying it's not playable enough. Chordmaker divisi should've been a thing a long time ago for EW.

+1000 for the separate vocal upgrade. I’ve sent s request to the EW of this, so far they just replied:
”The Backup singers is meant to be a trio of singers though - you aren't able to separate the 3 voices - it was recorded with all three singing simultaneously/together. ”
This points to the direction that Uncle E is, unfortunately, wrong, and the EW has recorded all 3 singers for the same track/sample.

I have a question regarding claiming two free Waves plugins where you have purchased the ones you register via 3rd parties.
Two claim 2 freebies it says that you have to purchase the plugins that cost over $90 together at the same time, but when you register 3rd party plugins you can only add one serial number at a time.
So is it possible to claim in this way when you need to register two or more? Anyone done this?
I've looked at the Terms and can't see the answer.
I have a few free Waves licences via magazines etc so I might as well register them all at the same time and get two extra if possible; two that I actually want.

how is the CPU usage? I hear the big benefit of Largo is minimal CPU usage compared to Serum and others of its kind.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Mon Jun 22, 2020 8:56 am Waldorf Largo (kind of the soft synth take on their hardware Blofeld synth) for $30 at APD for next 2 weeks

Very low. One of the benefits of plugins made 10 years ago is the CPU hit is going to be minimal due to the spec of computers at the time. I think it had relatively low CPU hit even back then.telecode wrote: Mon Jun 22, 2020 1:04 pmhow is the CPU usage? I've hardly touched DS Thorn. The last "no brainer" I couldn't resist...
That said, just watching a YouTube vid. Does seem capable of some proper filthy noises..
