What is that kind of sound called (jump to 2:00)? I really don't like that kind of sounds. And many of the demos sounds like that. I call it euro techno-ish, because I'm ignorant. It reminds me of when i was a kid at the school disco standing in the corner dorky and shy. Traumatic shit... haha
That's very much a "supersaw" uplifting / commercial trance lead :D Techno is usually quite different, though can be melodic.

Honestly, I do think it's worth spending some time demoing and programming this synth. It's pretty versatile and while it does a good job at these clean commercial sounds it most likely excels in other areas.

I just discovered that you can use the keyboard cursor keys to move through presets in the browser. Makes auditioning a presets a bit more palatable.

Always makes an early adopter feel like a bitch when they drop the price that rapidly for a cash grab. Can’t blame them, but it’s still annoying.

Well I guess we'll be seeing lots of cheap seconhand Largo licences for sale in the marketplace now.

...but FWIW, I picked it up and absolutely love it. I've had Largo on my radar for a long time, but could never justify it since I already have a bunch of other nice synths. This was the easiest "I shouldn't... here's my money! :hyper: " purchase I've made in a long time.

I passed on Largo when it originally came out, but couldn't really say no at this price. Of course, back in 2009 in its first version, it didn't have the "brilliance" parameter on the oscillators and I found its wavetables sounded muffled in the lower octaves - the addition of that parameter solves the issue and makes it easier to get a character that's somewhat more evocative of a Microwave.

Agree with the poster who mentioned that there are some gems in the additional designer banks, like the DocT folders.

Thank you for enlightening me! :)

Which of Waldorf h/w synths has same oscillators as in Largo, namely the oscillator phase amount, free run & FM?

really pleased I bought this in the sale - some lovely PADs possible. This factory patch with some added help from Eventide plugins and internal effects in Largo disabled

love the subtle "fizzle" you seem to get with the low pass filter lower down - don't know how to explain but it sounds really nice

I've just downloaded the demo to check it out. It sounds great, but is completely unusable for me at the standard GUI size. Does anyone know if it's possible to increase it? I use a 55" 4k monitor and sit about 3 meters back, I can't see a thing. :) I did have a quick look online and in the manual but couldn't find any mention of changing the GUI size. I usually go with around 200%. It's a shame, as it will be a deal breaker for me.

Whilst I don't have a 55 inch 4k monitor, I felt more or less the same like you do and contemplated it for two days. But at $25, I figured if one day it got a GUI update that would be great, if it doesn't I wouldn't have lost out on much financially.

No. It used to, but now it is doing a simple copy/paste license activation (up to 3x, I believe).
