Still writing it. Currently doing some clean up in the firmware. Today we're prepping our graphics wizard with a CVilization module to take home (remote work) so he can create the visuals (for the manual) to match nicely.
Zebra 3 feature suggestions

Interested to see what you've got cooked up for your first module.Urs wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2020 12:30 pmStill writing it. Currently doing some clean up in the firmware. Sorry if it has been asked before, but will Zebra 3 have any kind of sample playback oscillator? I'd love it to have a sample oscillator capable of playing one sample fully stretched from the lowest to the highest frequency without aliasing (maybe with some quality settings). Also it would be cool to use oscillators as modulation sources (a sample played at low frequency could be very cool).
I'd use all of this for sound effect design. There aren't many synths capable of playing samples like that. Kontakt does it at the high quality setting, but lacks the modularity of Zebra or Falcon (which aliases too much).
Cheers.

what about an oldschool video game in zebra3? (currently i only know 3 synths that contains a game: cyclop, avenger, phase plant)

I've built a reputation for being the "I-don't-do-sampling" guy.dorremifasol wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2020 3:02 pm Sorry if it has been asked before, but will Zebra 3 have any kind of sample playback oscillator?
It's been discussed a lot, but my stance is that a focus on synthesis yields more interesting/dynamic/expressive sounds if it does not have a sample playback option, i.e. if sound designers have to make the effort to "create" rather than "apply".

And that makes you sound very selfish in regard to your team and the sound designers out there. Nothing more to say about it.Urs wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2020 4:07 pmI've built a reputation for being the "I-don't-do-sampling" guy.dorremifasol wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2020 3:02 pm Sorry if it has been asked before, but will Zebra 3 have any kind of sample playback oscillator?

I wasn't aware that I had an obligation to let my developers create sample playback software. I also wasn't aware that they were begging to do it (they're glad we don't).
Nor was I aware that there was anyone entitled to tell me what I have to develop.
Sure. Sample playback is requested often, if not regularly. And time and time again I've been honest and told people that I won't do it. For the reasons given, and for a whole galore of other reasons easily found with the search function of this forum.

Don't let that ruin your day Urs. Most here are aware enough to realize how unselfish u-he is (like, free synths/effects for example). Covid souring people maybe.
Regarding sample import as wave tables, would that be resynthesis, like Harmor, Halion, Icarus do?

To some degree, maybe. Probably more like the tools that exist for Zebra2, but built into Z3 directly.Regarding sample import as wave tables, would that be resynthesis, like Harmor, Halion, Icarus do?

If that is selfish, then it is a good kind of selfish... developers should do what they want and what inspires them... that is where the most interesting gear comes from.enCiphered wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 12:47 pmAnd that makes you sound very selfish in regard to your team and the sound designers out there. That is single cycle waveform import then... not really samples as is generally thought of.Urs wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 1:44 pmTo some degree, maybe. I use Icarus for sample resynthesis into wavetables and those import into Hive just fine. There are enough tools to do that so doesn't seem like it is needed to put resynthesis into Z3.
