Yes , I agree with some previous post, it is a greater investment, i am the lucky owner of Sundog studio and Chord Potion. I have a lot of fun jamming around Chord potion, making presets, etc and it is good to have an update with the new cool features. And as an addition - very friendly user support.Thank you - Hauke. Good luck :P

Thank you, mongoloff :) :tu:
And there are also enough ideas for further updates for both Sundog and ChordPotion

deastman wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2020 3:27 pm I only recently picked up ChordPotion, and I’m happy to see that you’re continuing to update it!

A few years ago I joined the Kickstarter for the Theoryboard MIDI controller. I ended up feeling disappointed with what it could do, and left it in the back of the closet. That all changed when I realized that it paired perfectly with ChordPotion, using it to feed chords to the plugin. I’m pretty sure I’ve been responsible for a few additional sales of ChordPotion to other members of the TheoryBoard Facebook group. ;)

Oh, that's interesting. I didn't know of TheoryBoard yet. Yes, this sounds like a very interesting combination :)! Personally, I mostly use the Chords view of my own software Sundog for toying around with new chord progressions, but I totally see the appeal of the TheoryBoard approach.
I bought Sundog when you first released it, but I haven’t looked at it in a long time (what can I say? I have too much stuff!). I’ll give that a try in combination with ChordPotion. Thanks for the tip!

Hey everybody,

ChordPotion 2 is out now !
I made it available on the FeelYourSound website today, and I wish you a lot of joy with this new release :)

This quickstart video shows ChordPotion in action and explains the user interface:

New features in ChordPotion 2:
  • Randomize single steps with "step effects". You can randomize step types, note triggers, octave pitches, strum, velocity, note hold.
  • Higher range of octave pitches for single steps: -2, -1, 0, +1, +2 (right-click to change the pitch down an octave).
  • Drag and drop steps in the step sequencer.
  • Visualization of played notes in the MIDI recorder area.
  • Copy and paste buttons for edited patterns.
  • New FX action: Remove step effects.
  • New FX action: Remove velocity changes.
  • New FX action for Chords row: Make it MultiPlay (three different versions). More info: https://feelyoursound.com/chordpotion-manual/#multiplay
  • New global FX action: Pick only one melody row.
  • New "Tripletize" algorithm.
  • Additional patterns for the three Melody rows.
  • Click on a label to do a reset of the corresponding value.
  • Wording change: "Melody 1", "Melody 2", "Melody 3" instead of "Top", "Bass", "Extra".
  • 21 new factory presets.
You can expand ChordPotion with preset packages to cover even more playing styles. For ChordPotion 2, I teamed up with game composer Denis Comtesse to create three free new preset packs for you:

"Keys Mix": A selection of keyboard presets for various genres (Rock, Pop, Ballads, Blues, Jazz, Reggae, Soul).
"Golden Guitar": Picked and strummed guitars patterns. From folk to triplets to classic playing styles.
"Time Oddity": Various presets for odd meters like 3/4, 5/4, 6/8, and 7/8. Spice up your songs with some arpeggios, basslines, rhythmic chords, or strumming lines.

Normal price: 45 EUR / $49. ChordPotion 2 is a free update for all ChordPotion 1 users.

Celebration deals: Enter the code "Celebration" at the checkout page to get 10% off. Save up to 20% with special bundle prices that are available at https://feelyoursound.com/bundles-and-comparisons/. The offers are valid until 2020/07/09.

Absolutely great update again

And even the explaining videos getting better and better :D this one was really impressive and a real recommendation to look to get all the infos about the new stuff quick and easy.

It might be cheeky to request something after this big, big update but as this is into my mind for quiet a while I dare to ask :hihi:

We have now randomn on all 4 tracks with generate new variation and randomn on step leven with editing, but what I still miss is a randomn on track level AND the ability to lock a track.

The problem with the randomn generation on all level is that it happens nearly with evrything you do and so you can quickly loose some"thing completely that is 99 % done if you dont save all the time.

And its really "randomn" of course cause its on 4 tracks evrytime.

And the edit level means really "working" while randomn means fun

So that would (for me) really be the culmination of a potential version 3 if it could be possible to generate evry single track randomnly and then lock the result for that track.

I know that we have talked about it some time ago and its not easy (otherwise you would have done that already I know) but I will keep on hoping

Thank you for your nice comments on the new videos :)!

Regarding the "locking" option: I get your point here. Maybe I can add it in a future update (though you are right: due to some internal circumstances, it won't be an easy addition and might have some side effects if I don't take care).

it's software like this that makes music creation a joke! The process is becoming more like playing a video game. Any tom dick or harry of any age can produce. People like me and others who are trained devote years to their craft and then along comes something like this requiring no theory, no knowledge, just press a button and away you go.

Maybe. But. You still need an ear to make good music, how ever you go about it.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Well if devoting years of training to your craft and you can only make the melodies from Chordpotion, then you didn't do a good job studying. Furthermore, these are just melodies and most of the times they would still need some tweaking to even becomes something that can be used in a basic track. Also, if you give it bad sounding chords, you get crappy melodies, which means if you know your musical theory for making chords, you will get much better results. Finally, making a proper musical piece requires a lot more components and creativity than what Chordpotion can give you. I demo'ed it and it replaces some basic stuff for me which saves me probably a few hrs when starting a track which is worth it. In no way it replaces my creative side to put together a track.

i didn't say that, you did. and why you did is anyone's guess yet at the same time, probably not worth guessing.

i was merely saying technology is being made to do the work for us like that dna software to the point where there's little effort on our part anymore, no skill needed. no wonder songs today lack passion and music's devalued. mozart, bach are rolling in their graves as we speak. id be very surprised if there's a push2 user who knows what a treble clef is.

i think it's odd how music creation technology is advancing the rate it is while music consumer techology isn't.
